Shady casino (not sure which one) wanted to advertise here

As all of you know, there is no shortage of shady casinos, sportsbooks, and even poker rooms on the internet.

Most of these shady sites are small, and they attempt to drum up business by buying ads on sites like these -- ones that are frequented by gamblers.

Here is how a recent conversation went between me and a "direct marketing" company that wanted to have a client advertise here. They contacted me out of the blue. I have not solicited anyone for advertising here.

I have asterisked-out the personal details.

If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible by contacting me on *********@******.

Also If you have any other websites please let me know and maybe we can strike a multiple deal.

    Thank you in advance.

Please let me know if you are still interested.

I am interested in an ad on your site for a period of 12 months.

If you can deliver any of the below 2 options, then please let me know the cost and I can send across the details:

    1. Published article on an inner page of the website.
    2. An image on the homepage only, however not in the side bar or footer.

Please let me know if you would like to proceed so I can send you the information.
Also let me know if you run any other sites and feel free to spread my details to others interested in similar deals.
    Thanks

I sent the above six days ago. She had been answering me quickly during our brief interaction.

    Since then, I've received...

    that's a cricket

So it looks like one of three things happened:

    1) Lisa knows her client is shady and that I would never run the ad if I found out the name of the company.
    -or-
    2) Lisa asked the company if they wanted to provide this info, and they refused, knowing they were shady and that I would never run the ad.
    -or-
    3) Lisa thought this was too much trouble for whatever small commission she gets, so she gave up.

Anyway, pretty high chance this was some sort of really shady operation.

I am guessing "Lisa" is probably an affiliate herself (most likely some Romanian dude). So she gets you to put up an ad which sends players to some casino and she gets a CPA (cost per acquisition) of 300 usd for everyone that does a deposit.

I think the move here is that she gets you to run the ad for their "client" using Lisa's affiliate code. If PFA is capable of sending any players it will most likely happen within the first week or two. If PFA sends a couple of players or no players she probably gives you the "check is in the mail" and you never hear from her again. If PFA sends a bunch of players than she figures out some rate to pay you so that you keep the ad up.

Pretty much a free roll. That is why they never pay upfront and only after the ad is live. Casino players are pretty valuable and they only need to grab a few to get a payday.
