Do people actually believe this shit? They have been talking about how Assad "may" have used these weapons since January. Assad military gains some ground and now all of a sudden it is confirmed chemical weapons were used and killed 150 people.

First off, total horseshit that they just confirmed this now. Obv excuse to help rebels..

Second, I really doubt Assad would knowingly use chemical weapons to take out 100-150 and risk repercussions of that. If he was to use them, it would be a last effort to keep himself in power and not to take out a handful of people.

The US doesn't want to get involved in Syria and piss off Syria's backers -- Russia and China. The US was wishing the rebels could eek out a win.

I just watched a Frontline documentary on Syria the other day. The rebels would get all worked up (2 days of planning) about taking out an Syrian Army Outpost and then get close and realize they have a rocket launcher but they don't know how to aim it. And they only have 80 bullets for their one big gun. It was like watching the 3 Stooges.

This sending arms to the rebels is just a ploy to try to get some heart off of him with all these scandals. Anyone with half a brain should be able to see through this. I mean I can and am beginning to wonder if I don't have that much brains for voting for him twice after voting for Bush twice.

This whole mess of politicians makes me sick. Something's got to change in the future and God hope we can handle it.

About the only honest guy was maybe Carter weakling that he was. And although a Republican from 1972-2006 and then switching I think JFK was good in that he kept us out of a nuclear war.

There are no good options for the US with Syria. If we watch the rebels get slaughtered, then we're hypocrites for not defending Democracy. If we help the rebels, we're imperialist bastards who are involved in overthrowing yet another Arab regime. If the new government of Syria is an oppressive theocracy, it's our fault.

If we help the rebels, we're imperialist bastards who are involved in overthrowing yet another Arab regime. If the new government of Syria is an oppressive theocracy, it's our fault.

Yes usually. With that said though, I fully acknowledge Bush was without doubt the worse president in my lifetime and possibly ever.

I would say I am socially liberal on most issues but fiscally conservative which I guess would more or less make me a libertarian. I think any body that is completely ONE party needs to look in the mirror. Whenever you think there is only way to do something, and one party is right on every issue, you become no different than a religious fanatic. Leftism to a hardcore leftist is a religion much like Christianity is to a Christian. Both are dangerous.

My biggest problem with government is complete waste of tax payers money. I think this is large in part due to the size of it. Also, anytime you spent someone's else money it becomes less valuable. Both republicans and democrats do this.

You are absolutely right there are no good options. They wont say it, but I think at this point the US would prefer long term chaos to either side winning. If both sides keep fighting for another 5 years, it gives the US time to figure things out while Iran continues to be unconformable about the situation.. The Iranians gain more power if Assad wins but it is possibly worse if the rebels win due to the Islamic fanatics that make up the rebel forces. A constant/ pro longed war kind of neutralizes both threats to the outside world.

That is why I think this "announcement" about chemical weapons is a joke. I have no doubt the US knew within weeks if these weapons were used. They kept the data in their back pocket until they needed an excuse to provide arms to the rebels. Either a rogue Assad military unit used the weapons, or the rebels really were the ones that used them and the US determined there would never be a way in the near future for anyone to prove who used them. This way they could pin it on Assad. I find it incredibly hard to believe that the Assad regime would allow chemical weapons to be used to take out 150 people. It makes no sense.
