After some heated and tense negotiations with Mr. Shatner, we came to a resolution that was very amenable to me. I will be staying at the swanky 4* Hyatt Regency Chicago (in the Loop) for $65/nt from 3/26-3/29 and for $60/nt from 3/29-3/31. Even after the redic travel taxes and what have yous, it's still avg. $75/nt. During their busy time, w/o my negotiating skills, rooms there literally go for $400/nt. I am a Priceline superstar.







Think a place like this will go for the $20 trick? I should be able to get a flight for ~$200. Thinking I might schedule my flight for the day after my hotel stay ends. That way I can put in a long/late session at the poker room and stay another night for free. Just not sure what I'll do with my bag. I've also thought about just hanging out at a 24/hr Starbucks all night. Not sure if they'd care that I have a suitcase on me, but I'm sure I can flash them my gold card and it'll be no problem.

fly into midway/ohare, take L train downtown, cab to hotel, go across the river to the north and then slightly west to the RIVER NORTH area (restaurants and bars).

Check your bags with the front desk, they'll keep them no problem...tip the bellhop $5 when you get them back.

yes, if you take the L into the city, you can get off fairly close to the hotel. Dont really need a cab.

I would definitely prefer Chicago in the summer too, but at the same time at least go check it out so you at least know the RIO isn't on the strip

Yup, that is pretty much what that section is for, because if you were staying there, you'd have a room for them.

$20 trick (also called the $20 sandwich) is basically bribing the front desk to get a room upgrade. When you check in, you put a $20 bill sandwiched inbetween your ID and your Credit Card and you ask them "Are there any complimentary upgrades?". If they can do something for you, they'll give you an upgrade (sometimes really good upgrades) and if they can't do anything for you they'll give you your $20 back, so it's risk free. it's similar for sure, but it only has buildings for 6 blocks, not 6 miles.
