    Downgrading Windows 8 to 7

Just purchased a new desktop with W8 pre-installed, how do I go about going back to W7? Ideally I'd just like to format everything and install W7 from scratch. Anyone done this on their laptop/PC?

Why? At the end of the month, 8.1 comes out and Start button comes back.

Windows 8 is a massive improvement in almost every way, yes it has a new user interface but if you watch a few videos you will find it to be much more efficient.

Now that being said, if you buy a full copy of Windows 7 you can just pop in the DVD and it should give you the option to wipe everything you currently have on the hard drive and install Windows 7 fresh.

If you have Windows 8 Pro, you get a downgrade right to Windows 7 professional. This is pro only, not standard.

As to how to do it, try here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2417359,00.asp

I was offered a free Windows 8 upgrade on my current laptop I purchased last summer but I never took advantage of it which it seems from reading around everywhere people rather have Windows 7 then 8.

Not upgraded yet. Hopefully 8.1 will be a big improvement. If it is I will probably upgrade.
