I understand that, but why is the price inflated above everything else I see online regarding the value of BTC at the moment?

So take Gemini. There's a shitload of people on there with BTC to sell. None are willing to sell for less than $15.4k, even when the actual price is $15k.

Is there seriously no one who is happy to just get parity (or maybe parity + fees) when they sell?

I'm just surprised there aren't people selling for lower. It also probably doesn't help that Gemini just auto-sets the price at that level unless you manually change it, so some people probably aren't even aware they're selling for a premium.

So it looks like you will get a few % bump if you cash out of a gambling site in BTC, then send it to Gemini/Coinbase, then sell it, right?
Why are you paying fees on Coinbase and not using their exchange GDAX? As long as you place limit orders you pay zero fees and can enter as many orders as you want. If you're not familiar with limit orders you basically have to buy when the price is going down and sell when the price is going up. Even if you still prefer to do market orders I believe the fees are still lower on GDAX. All of your information from Coinbase should transfer over to GDAX so you don't have to start a new account.

As for the the current price being higher on Coinbase than other exchanges, it appears that they have been running out of bitcoin due to a massive increase in new customers. Yesterday you could buy BTC on another exchange and transfer it to GDAX/Coinbase and make around $1k profit per coin.

This guy speculates on the price difference at 3:20

    Lots of rumors etc.
Ive heard some of this but have also heard it could get pounded up too. Could see some massive (5 figure) swings both ways in a day over the next week and maybe moving forward but thats just obv speculation

Tough calls on depositing to sportsbooks/poker or holding right now

The start of futures trading is the wildcard. First time you can legit short. Who knows?

I guarantee this. Some noob bitcoin futures trader is gonna push the wrong button and detonate himself.

The margin requirements are going to be very high.

It's been on a steady trudge downward today.

Now it's at 13600 on Bitstamp.

Wouldn't be surprised if it marches all the way back down below 10, before bouncing back some.

I dont know alot about futures trading;ive only traded stock options etc.

That aside, from what i hear CME futures will be 5 coins per contract, CBOE (Launched on the 17th?) will be 1 coin per contract.

CME is imposing price limits of 20% which means you can only reap a 20% gain whether long or short?? With my limited knowledge of futures, Im scratching my head at this one. Im not sure what CBOE is doing.

Oh and margin requirement is now raised to 44%

How does a lowball offer help me?

It's more likely it will auto-accept during a crash and then I'll be stuck with BTC worth a lot less than what I paid.

Yes, if I happen to set it near the bottom before it bounces, I can be okay, but I think the other side is more likely.

Either way, I don't want to buy BTC at 6% more than the market rate at the moment (and the rate I will get paid by gambling sites when I deposit them).
I'm mostly trolling with that post but it really all depends what you think will happen. The coin does this 1k to 2k dip and back up sort of thing a few times a day as of late.

It seems crazy but we have to remember because the price is as high as it is now that a 1k dip and back up is normal, mostly stable activity.

The play I'm referring to would be if you catch it on the small dip for the buy and hold on to it hoping it will only take a few hours to net this 5 to 8% as it goes back up before moving it to a poker site so you get more then what you paid but if you aren't around and fear crashing badly then your right it would be pointless.

Bitcoin price is steadily dropping (now down to 13,500) on coinbase.
I completely expected this because imo there is a lot of market fear because of the unknowns that the futures will bring.

How often do we have an investment - especially one that is met with great skepticism, that we have no past track record to possibly predict near future results? Imo its probably going to have some overall bearish activity for the next week or 2 since CME futures open tomorrow and CBOE futures open on the 17th. Im sure there are PLENTY of people wanting to cash in their gains, whatever they might be.

After that it will probably stabilize - at what price point? Who knows

44% now? Yikes, I have to say I am going back and forth, is a "long" term play more profitable than the "big short"? I mean no one else is getting to play if they rekt it off the bat. I believe the fear is now driving the downward push and by tomorrow the hope of big ups will do the reverse.

Seems like the guys running it are the devil but are making the rules they play by hard on themselves to kill it....hhhmmm

At any rate I sold out most all of it a short while ago and glad I did, hope to see this dip further before getting back in tomorrow at some point.

Seems like this is a classic sell the news event going on right now. I suspect the Wall Street Jews will be loading up this week and then push it to $50,000+ before yanking the rug from underneath. Rising tide lifts all boats, so maybe some of the microcap altcoins could see some fantastic returns.
