Nicky Pipes Updates Las Vegas Review

Back in Vegas again, why must I suffer in such a way?

Booked a last minute trip last week, which negative impacted my flight options. Red eye both ways basically, had to have a window seat on the way here, which was hell. Will never fly again in anything other than aisle seat, my presence is exit row. Unfortunately each flight had like 3 seats left when I booked so I got the only non middle seat

Didn’t want to come but a business partner from Morocco told me last minute he will be here so I was obliged to come

Was at a conference at Paris so that’s where I stayed

Absolute shithole, abysmal, offensive bad, disaster, Druff would have had a fit

WiFi in room didn’t work the entire time, had to use phone hot spot. Huge frustration. Why hold online marketing event in a hotel with unusable WiFi?

AC in my room didn’t work, water pressure sucked

Last night the people in the room next store smoke weed and cigarettes all night which made my room smell like a dive bar in Lake Worth

Was upset about that as obviously I have extremely nice and expensive attire that I do not want smelling like smoke or weed

Imagine Nicky Pipes showing up to a meeting smelling like pot and cigs? Never happened, never will

    Water bottle was $11?

Criminal! Imagine being an Average Guy trying to take your family here?

They rip you off like this and don’t even provide WiFi?

The city of Las Vegas is a shit hope

    Everything still smells like weed

Unruly folks on the strip bothering everyone

Just a bad place to be folks

    Not my style

Now I’m playing low stakes poker at Bellagio, first time playing poker in years maybe 5 or more

Just won a hand hitting a straight, $50 richer

Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience but good luck at Bellagio. I love playing there! I'm going back in June for a WSOP event and hope some PFA folks will be there same time. Today was a frustrating poker day for me - I drove an hour to Salem, NH, played for almost 7 hours, lost $135 then an hour back home. Wasted day.

I smoked cigarettes for almost 30 years but quit 5 years ago and cannot stand the smell either. These people have no idea how gross they are. They come back to the tables smelling like shit and have absolutely no clue.

I posted on here once about living in lake worth and walking across the bridge to the beach and doing sprints on the bridge at night

Sonantine called it beautiful, it was meaningful to him (bonding experience)

Paris isn't bad, but you need to get a feel for everything and not get upcharged to death.

For example, you never buy their $11 water. You go to the front desk and ask for the small bottles which they give you free. Sometimes they will give you as many as 5 at once. I believe Paris has free refrigerators in the room, too.

If the room you get sucks, you switch. Vegas hotel rooms are notorious for having AC/heating issues. This isn't just Caesars properties. I ran into this a lot at other places recently, as well. You either call for maintenance, or you switch rooms.

How did the smoking thing happen? Were you in a smoking room? You can either report your neighboring room for doing this, if it's seeping into your room, or again, just switch.

Never get a connecting door. I'm assuming that was your problem regarding the smoke smell.

When I get a hotel room in Vegas, I call there on the day I'm arriving (usually between noon and 3pm PT), and I ask for them to assign the following:

    - No connecting door

    - High floor

    - Not near elevator

    - Not facing noisy side (such as a busy street)

This makes my experience there WAY better.

I assume you're stuck paying a resort fee, since you're presumably not Caesars Diamond. Have them fix the AC, and then ask for them to take off the resort fee for the nights this was an issue.

I had a connecting room, I booked literally the last king room available for the nights I wanted as there was a big conference and I booked very last minute

I have never called a hotel to make these requests, never considered it

I bought the water as I got in at 1 AM and walked past a shop and bought a water, didn’t have time to value shop

I didn’t want to snitch and get the people in trouble though I found what they did annoying

The first thing I do when I get to a room is hang up my expensive and prestigious business attire, taking everything back off the hangers and putting it into a suitcase and getting new room keys and going to a new room seemed like a hassle

Instead I chose to complain on PFA and social media

    What’s with the WIFI?

The Wifi is shit in many hotels in Vegas. Depends where you are in the hotel, how busy they are, and whether the hotel sprung for enough bandwidth.

As you might remember, I've had to recently use my phone for tethering to my computer in order to broadcast PFA Radio from certain Vegas hotels, as sometimes the Wifi isn't good enough to consistently do so.

If you don't call and ask for them to hold a room for you early in the day, you'll get the last remaining ones, which are almost always shit.

A lot of this is status-dependent, too. They sometimes will not hold a room for you if you're below Diamond (or equivalent status wherever you're going), but sometimes you can talk them into it anyway.

My experience at Paris is always fairly good, because I know the property really well, call in advance to have a good room held, and know how to avoid the various upcharges and bullshit. And because I'm Diamond, so I get treated better and can also skip lines.

In Vegas, hotels will walk all over you if you don't assert yourself. However, even asserting yourself will only go so far if you don't have the proper status level. Your casino tier level makes a tremendous difference regarding how they treat you. My one bad experience at Paris recently occurred when I lapsed down to gold status (bottom tier), and I was treated like an asshole. So I can understand how Pipes had a bad experience too.

I agree that Vegas is increasingly pushing away the average Joe, especially ones who aren't experienced with the companies and properties like I am.

    What do you mean tether?

    You mean hot spot?

That’s what I had to do use my phone hot spot, but even that had a slow connection

Huge hassle for me as it made like 30 min of work tasks take 1hr +

Maybe I’ll call and demand my resort fee back but at the same time it’s a business expense and I need some tax write offs I guess

Yeah once you get off U.S. 1 in Lake Worth it gets better

Westward West Lake Worth has many communities and H.O.A.'s that are 500k+ and inland from 1, Lake Worth west is ok, but still id rather live in Jupiter or other areas all day every day, clearly i do have family or someone in Jupiter, its nice..

Lake Worth is not comparable in any way to Jupiter, they are entirely different social classes

Jupiter Florida is the nicest place on earth, lake worth sucks and is filled with bums
