What is the Cleveland to Cali salary ratio

So I have this interview for a permanent position in California. I do 75k in Cleveland what exponential factor needs to be considered for a move there. I was thinking cost of living 200k as compared to 75k in Cleveland. Is this correct conversion?

idk chicago is expensive and there is no chance you would be getting 200k here if you make 75k in the armpit aka cleveland.

Pretty sure you should be looking at job postings in your field in the location that you are considering to get the overall range. Every profession is going to be different, regardless of economics of the locale.

Depends where in California you are. 2x is probably good.

It's a culture change compared to half the people in Cleveland missing teeth and always eating McDonald's.

California has the highest State,City & Property Tax rates in the Country
better look at your net pay too, not just living expenses

Also, sales tax is 9% in LA, and as high as 10% in certain parts of southern California.

Much of the cost-of-living is area dependent, though. While no housing in California is cheap (not even in the ghetto or the sticks), it's still far cheaper in the desert and other out-of-the-way places than it is in Los Angeles or (especially) San Francisco.

Also, much of it has to do with the way you're going to spend your money. Housing is MUCH more expensive in California, but renting is not as proportionately as expensive (compared to other states) as buying. Other expenses (such as buying a car) are the same no matter where you live. Health care is a little more expensive, but not by that much. Groceries are about the same, provided you shop at supermarkets or big-box stores and stay away from the little markets in the city. Gas is more expensive, but if you make decent money, it shouldn't interfere with your lifestyle.

If you make over 100k/year in California, you can live well, but you won't exactly be balling, either.

How much household income would you consider balling where you live?

If it's where you were working before, you could probably live ok in a decent area. Im pretty sure the pay would be above 100k. It also depends on if you want a house, condo, or rental and how close you want to live to the area. You can PM me if you don't want to air out all of the details.
