This is really an extraordinary story. It's strange that it isn't a bigger story tbh, but I kind of glossed over it for a day not really paying attention even living here in NE Ohio. It's certainly a big story, but I think hearing a bunch of Hispanic names, and seeing a shitty neighborhood, you kind of just tune it out as some typical ghetto nonsense. It's the Elizabeth Smart story times 3, played out over a decade, with the girls being kept in what's essentially a row house neighborhood with houses next door 4 feet away. It begs a thousand questions about how he was able to pull it off and never fuck up once. I understand he had help from his brothers, but it's still amazing to think he could never nod off once without having them not all completely restrained. How he kept them in fear, and not yelling, with neighbors merely feet away in a busy neighborhood. Really strange. I'm sure he played on their sisterhood once they bonded, and fear that he would kill the other 2, but these girls weren't siblings, and it takes awhile to shed off self-interest in favor of protecting the group. Crazy story. I can't imagine the feeling of getting back a loved one you had written off as dead years ago.
