Which event will Druff have his best ROI in for WSOP 2013?

Last year there was a poll to see which event people thought Druff would have his best placing, this year, it'll be best ROI.

This thread will also have brief info on each event including links to the official PFA rail threads and unofficial rail threads.

1 pick per person, picks are kept private, poll closes on the 29th of May, the official buy a piece of Druff thread is here :

    http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...13-WSOP-Thread

Druff has not made any statements as to any events he may have to miss if he does extremely well in other events.

    Best ROI: Event 37: 951%

    Cashed:

Event 6 the $1500 millionaire maker NLH on Day 1A. He did well and had a good stack going into Day 2 but nothing exciting happened and he went out ITM.

    Event 37 $5000 Limit Holdem:
    5th for $52582 giving ROI of 951%

Not played due to doing well in other events:
    Event 40
    Event 49

    Did not cash:
    Event 10
    Event 45
Event 48 (appox 16 from the money)
    Event 53
Event 62 Main Event (Day 3, approx. 180 from the money).

Druff woud have needed a top 72 finish approximately to have set a better ROI than Event 37

Regardless of the results of the Main Event Druff will have had a profitable WSOP 2013.

Some last minute controversy as the Millionaire Maker allows for re-entry on 6B if you donk 6A.

Druff has stated he will consider playing 6B if the conditions are right and he gets donked early.

Due to Druff doing well near the end of Day 6A he decided that if he bust today he would not try and sign for 6B.

Druff made an eerily accurate predication before Event 6 started
    "It'll be a clusterfuck"

    From the official WSOP site:

6/1/2013 5:48:36 PM PST (about 8 minutes ago)

The Daily Deepstack from 3 p.m. Has Moved to 8:30 p.m.

Not only are there a lot of people waiting to start their Millionaire Maker Day 1B flight but also a lot of Daily Deepstack players are wondering around. That tournament, that got moved from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. erlier, has now been moved to 8:30 p.m. The entire Amazon, Brasilia and Pavilion Room are full and there are simply not enough tables to accommodate all the players at this time.

6/1/2013 5:04:54 PM PST (about 37 minutes ago)

    Interested in Flight 1B?

There's lots of people trying to register for the 1B flight of this tournament so it might be double as tough to bust day 1A right now. On twitter it buzzes of people in long lines for registration and some people even said there's no parking space on the entire Rio property anymore. We'll have to see about that one but it is crowded here for sure. This Millionaire Maker tournament is a big hit, no one can argue with that at this point.

6/1/2013 5:24:10 PM PST (about 17 minutes ago)

    A Change of Plans

We're playing only 8 levels instead of the 9 levels which were on the schedule for today. Flight 1B is so big that the entire Amazon Room is full and all tables available in Pavilion are also occupied by 1B players.

6/1/2013 5:36:21 PM PST (about 5 minutes ago)

See You Guys in an Hour

Some of the people that have registered for 1B are being told that there isn't enough room yet, so they'll be start playing at the beginning of the second level of the day. The first level has only just started so they have to hoover around for a bit and check back in an hour or so. This tournament is getting really really big now.

Event 6 "The Millionaire Maker" $1500 Buyin June 1st.

    Official PFA twitter feed thread:

    http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...aker-NL-Holdem

That thread also serves as the unofficial rail thread.

Druff had a good start in Day 6A including AA vs AK that held.

He also wisely folded 55 preflop against a raise and a 2200 allin shove when the blinds were reasonably low, unfortunately the flop was 556

From Druff: Day 1 complete. Finished with 25075. We will restart 1pm PT tomorrow. See you then! #pfa06

Assuming the chip counts are remotely correct thisputs Druff in the top 20 for Day 1A.

Despite a tough Day 2 with nothing much to report, Druff manages to cash for $3083.

    ROI = ((prize - buyin) / buyin) * 100.
In this case Druff had an ROI of +106%.

Next event is the $1500 Limit Holdem that Druff has previously had a 3rd in but hasn't cashed for a number of years now.

Druff has not sold any shares in this, and his previous best in it was 3rd place, however over recent years he has not cashed in it.

Unlike Event #6 (NKH) where Druff was reasonably confidently going up in stack size day 1, Day 1 of this event has proved to be a real roller coaster ride.

Druff managed to knock 3 players out in 1 hand as a highlight.

Druff ended Day 1 with only 3300 chips (from a high of 24000 at one point).

Druff was out early in Day 2 after running into AA and KK.

    ROI ((0 - 1500) / 1500) * 100 = -100%

    Event #37 $5000 Limit Holdem:

    Official twitter feed http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...t-Holdem/page4

Druff had an uneven day but ended roughly average.

His initial prediction was it would be less than 166 players but it climbed to 176, 10 up front last year.

I totally phoned this one in, check Druff's reply below for more accurate info.

    -----------------

Druff ended Day 2 with the lead and a stack of 442k (5k, 10k blinds) and 12 players left (18 paid).
    The 2nd player has 425k and 3rd has 387k
The 3 shortest stacks have 70k, 41k, 39k so aren't expected to last long.

The official PFA rail thread has posts for this event starting here
    http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...l-Thread/page6

    -----------
    Day 3.

Druff ended up 5th despite having Day 2 Lead. The short stacks took ages to bust, and while Druff had good hands against the shorties they kept doubling which didn't help. The blinds were not capped so eventually it was turning into a crapshoot. Druff acquitted himself well and proved he can get the job done.

    Final result: 5th $52582

    ROI
    ((52582 - 5000) / 5000) *100 = 951%

    Was it 176? I saw 170.

Anyway, yeah they got more late entries than I expected.

I finished better than average -- 38,200. Average is around 25,800.

Was at a high of 48,800 but lost some back.

    Event #48 $2500 6 max LH

    Official PFA twitter thread: http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...t-Holdem-6-Max

Druff speculated due to the 1 drop $111,111 buyin event that a lot of the NL pros who aren't as good at Limit Holdem would not enter event #48.
Other than Phil Helmuth this turned out to be spot on analysis. (Helmuth out day 1 of event #48)

Druff ended day 1 with 31,800 chips compared to the average of 21,600.

343 starters [36 paid] and 119 going into Day 2 should be a good day for Druff.

Druff would need a final table in this to set a higher ROI for this year.
    -----

    Day 2.
Druff took some nice pots off Maria Ho in Day 1 and 2 but he got stuck with a big hand losing to her turned straight and then another hand where he had KK vs her AA that had a lot of bets going in.

This crippled him, allin on his BB with an unfortunate 23o that was pretty much dead when the board double paired.

Druff believes he finished 16 away from the money.

    As he tweeted:
"Lost top pair & str draw to AA, my AA lost to a straight, then KK runs into AA in less than 20 min"

    ROI -100%.

    The Main Event!

    Event 62, July 7th.
    Official PFA twitter thread:

    http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...dem-Main-Event

Starting stacks are 30k and Druff was pretty even between 27k and 34k for most of the day. (In contrast to the Limit events that were often pretty swingy).

He did battle with a Frenchman who laid a bluff on him, rivered a flush on him and otherwise tried to put a crimp in his day, but Druff prevailed when he picked up KK vs AQ and the Frenchman was happy to ship AQ on KQ2x turn, drawing dead. Druff got up to roughly $54k and ended the day with 53850. Average stack at this point is roughly 46k.

Druff observed "I am ranked 407 out of 1296 of the Day 1B players, but that doesn't mean much. "

Days 1A and 1B will be combined into Day 2A whereas Day 1C will have its own Day 2B.

    End of Day 2:
Druff ends the day with 124100 chips on a rough average of 102k.

With some ups and downs, Druff lost a nice pot middle of Day 2 that would have put him in the mid 90s when a K rivered.

In a much better hand near the end of the day, Druff had 22 on the button, 24J flops, someone else wakes up with AJ and shoves.

Start of Day 3 Druff tweeted:
"1753 out of 6352 players remain. 648 cash"

With the threat of illness at the end of Day 2 and a slow start to Day 3 Druff was very card dead for most of the day. He did survive 1 double up with AK vs AJ to get back up to around 110k but after many hours of being forced to fold, or having terrible cards he picked up AK.
Unfortunately a very similar stack had AA and Druff didn't improve to end up with 1.5k chips which effectively ended his WSOP ME.

He was roughly 180 away from the money at the time.
