UltimatePoker.com, the first legal US real money poker site, is online

    http://www.ultimatepoker.com/

... brought to you by Station Casinos.

You can only play if physically located in Nevada, but you don't have to live there.

Antonio Esfandiari is the face of the site.

It has some strange marketing tie-in with the UFC.

Supposedly you can deposit/withdraw either through ACH transfers or using cash at Station Casinos.

I have to admit that it is pretty sweet to just be able to walk into a casino and collect cash for your online winnings.

Unfortunately, I predict this will be a failsite unless some other states jump aboard.

Please let us know about the games available and what they are raking even though I'm sure it will be a few days before the traffic builds up.

Anyone can download the software and set up an account. You can even deposit in advance. You just can't play unless you are physically in Nevada.

My guess is that it's going to be all pros for awhile until the word gets out to the general public.

People on 2+2 are already bitching that there isn't rakeback, but they are engaging in 2000s thinking.

I'm pretty sure you are just going to earn Station Casino points through your play, similar to video poker.

If they rakeback they can move to Canada and play on FTP.

Is there any indication what stakes the cashgames will be (what stakes do Station casinos offer in live games currently?) and what, if any, tax implications there will be?

(IE does the site track profit/loss, deposits/transfers/withdrawals) or are players entirely liable to declare that themselves?

Obv good topic for Radio tomorrow.

My initial research shows that they are using something like this to locate users:

    http://developer.att.com/developer/f...ItemId=3100100

It's based on your cell phone, which is odd, since you can easily trick the system by just leaving a cell phone sitting at a buddy's house in Nevada.

It is not clear if these cell phone location servers are using GPS methodology, or if they are using cell tower technology (or both). GPS is more accurate, but much easier to spoof.

Maybe it also checks IPs. If it doesn't, the location procedure has a huge flaw.

So from that chart it looks like they won't be offering above $10/$20 limit.

    Hopefully that changes.

That rake structure looks remarkably like Stars (and assumedly FTP)

Be interesting to see if they go higher than $10/20 and if they do any promotional online to rl satties.

is the technology there for "someone" to set up an IP "host" site in NV, where for example a Floridian can park his FL IP and use the "host" IP located in NV

also the site might fail for years until enough states hook up to make it profitable but casinos have deep pockets and they will keep losing money until that happens b/c the upside is just too lucrative imo

Sorry if you already know this but, the Fertittas who own Station Casinos also own the UFC (privately owned). That target demographic they are figuring will be lucrative for Ultimate Poker.

Time will tell, although with the series about to get under way they are just in time. The interesting numbers will be late July after the WSOP is over, and most leave NV. What will the traffic look like then.

    Station Casinos/UFC/Ultimate Poker= Fertittas

I was honestly trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, having been piled on here myself before. Although after reading this, I am not so sure it is warranted. Here is a problem with that idea, obviously, many people are going to have a hard time understanding in a regulated and legal framework, the days of doing this crap are over. Needless to say if you do this on a real U.S site, you are risking real legal consequences, not to mention possibly being black-listed from the casinos them-self completely.

I would imagine doing so on a Caesers site for example, would be very, very -EV. Something tells me "some" are going to have to learn the hard way.

I am in the process of getting verified. I am not going to make my screen name public, though. I don't want people familiar with my play style to get an edge that way.

I'm watching the software run right now. There's a $3/$6 NL running and a few smaller limit games.

The software sucks big time. It's not even as good as Paradise Poker in 2001. Hopefully that improves.

It also bothers me that they don't have any known names in online poker in management. That is sure to lead to failure.
