also due to the short summer seasons, growing crops was difficult and resources were always scarce. As a result, many of the Viking people were much smaller than commonly depicted due to limited food sources. AKA they were FAGS

Although the show is overly melodramatic (particularly in its unrealistic depiction of the male/female relationships in Dark Ages Europe), there can be no doubt that the Vikings were total badasses.
They terrified all of Europe, sailing deep into Russia and all over the Mediterranian Sea.
Their boats were technological marvels and they were master navigators.
They were fearless warriors. They believed that if they died in battle, they would go straight to Valhalla. The term "going berserk" comes from the Viking berserkers, who whipped themselves into a drug induced frenzy before charging naked at the enemy armed only with a battle axe. The sight of a few berserkers was enough to make many opponents flee the battlefield. European kings often paid the invaders off to get them to leave, rather than face them in battle.
They loved to party. After a raid, they often spent the next few days getting shitfaced drunk and raping the local women.
Season 4 starts on the 18th
