    online data backup recommendations

have been using Magic Backup the last several years for work laptop backup besides UBS drive regular backups, due to email change didn't get a notice to re-up and Magic Backup expired, i'm aware that there is iCloud now but dont know anything about it, at the time i was only aware of Carbonite and Magic Backup that were reliable and Magic was cheaper for the same service, if i lose my business files, i am OOB until they are somehow restored, what is the best way to go

From MS There's the Office 2013 Upload Center and MS Skydrive and Office365 Share Point.

Google also has a free Cloud storage, but not sure what storage limits are on these.

I have used MS Sky Drive without any problems.

I'm sure there are tons of free on line Clouds, also, external HD's are cheaper and smaller nowadays for the really important data.

Free ones have limited storage. Using external drives leaves you sol in case of natural disaster or fire that takes out your whole house. Online storage companies can lose shit too or go out of business and are a natural target for hackers. Encrypt anything you put up there. The best setup I had was mirroring a single encrypted file folder to an online service. Anytime I put anything in that folder it got backed up immediately. I have no need for it now.

But one thing must be keep in mind that you are only partially protected. Many online storage services only back up your information those you make and not those that the system needs to start up, for example.
