Who is the man behind Valverde in terms of closing?
Tigers had this rookie Bruce Rondo who they wanted to use for closer but he didn't pan out and struggled in preseason then got a shot but failed. Their other options they've considered or have tried are Phil Coke, Al Alburquerque, and Octavio Dotel. Porcello and Fister pitched gems vs. Pittsburgh giving up no runs in the past week yet the Detroit lineup failed them and now Scherzer starts rough but then dominates and can't get the win.
the tigers should be much better than they are. from 1-4 their staff is one of the best, if not the best in the AL.
in other news,...cabrera is having another triple crown type year, and yet again, nobody gives a shit. at the least, fanta should give him a contract to peddle their grape and orange soda.
Outback should endorse Cabrera and the Miggy RBIeye Steak.
Tigers should be way better though their bullpen is letting them down and they are stranding a lot of runners in many games they are losing. Verlander has also been the 3rd or 4th best starter on the team this year which while he's been off he's still been better then a majority of the pitchers in MLB which says a lot about Sanchez, Scherzer, and Fister.
Luckily for them, bullpen help is the easiest (and cheapest) thing to add come trade deadline time. Throw a mid-level prospect to the Astros or Marlins for whichever veteran is pitching the best in their pen.
Knowing that my twins aren't doing shit this year, I'd love to see another STL-DET world series. The pitching matchups would be great.
