    Poker cheating systems. Warning.

I asked in the chatroom what Druff thinks about these things, but he ignored it. I guess he either didn't have anything to say, or didn't know about it.

Personally, I think it is somewhat important that people be aware of these things. If you never play in larger home games, then maybe this wouldn't be an issue. If you do though, you should be aware of this technology. By not covering it, Druff, you are basically doing the same thing as the complaints against people like Nolan Dalla not telling his Peter story.

I've had gamerunners call me to try to recruit players they despised, just so the mark would be setup and cheated with this device. It made for some crazy play at games. A guy would be a total nit, then play J3o and scoop a pot. Apparently a few wiser older guys quit these games, but a lot just stayed around and got stuck. It requires a marked deck to be entered into the game, but thats about it.

The thing reads barcodes off the edge of cards and feeds it into an ear piece. It looks like a cell phone. The guy who used it, would use like those big dr dre headphones to cover up the tiny ear piece. He would also buyin for very large amounts to put his cellphone on the middle of the table on top of his mound of chips. He also insisted on sitting in seat 5.

Seriouslyserious, I'm pretty sure it is a new thing. I'm not sure how new it is, but I'm pretty sure something like this hasn't been around for very long. Marked cards have existed for ages, complete with lenses etc to view them, but I was not aware of a covert phone looking device that'd do all the work for you. The barcode is likely on the edge of the cards, so it is very hard to tell by inspection. It is actually pretty fucking scifi and actually works. It just takes the balls to execute and connections to get hte cards in the game.

The device reads the cards and tells the player who is #1 and who is #2. So you fold fold fold until you are #1, then you know who #2 will be. It is exceptionally simple and takes almost no training. The device looks like a cellphone. Infact, the "phone" was odd and I think thats how the whole thing was made known when smoeone was like 'wtf kind of phone is that anyway'.

The reason I brought it up in the fashion that I did... is because Druff kept asking for questions, so I give Druff something interesting and I didn't even see a "I don't know, I'll have to look into it to discuss it." Instead, he just ignored it after I put forth effort explaining it etc in the chatroom. Just seemed like he wasn't doing what he claimed to be about, on multiple levels. (Not exposing frauds of sorts, and not answering "any question") Overly dramatic? maybe, but I got results.

And the reason people play in homegames is really simple. Cardrooms are not legal in a lot of states and that is about it. Everything else Druff said is true, but I'm not sure how bad the players are. In vegas you get just random gamblers, homegame nl games are just full of people who are "into" poker. There are also larger homegames hosted at people's houses. To play with these people you have to be likeable at the table.... because if you aren't, then they simple stop inviting you to the better games.

I only learned about your thread while radio was going, so I didn't watch the video. This technique might be new, but I was referring more in general to high-tech methods of cheating home games. I've heard of several over the years.

    Well list them out.

We have time ... and i think you do too. lol.

Being around homegames though makes me despise poker. I used to like it, because it wasn't same ol dreary casino environment thats all too common. Then you start to realize how everyone is a sociopath and I'm using the term for the clinical definition and not the common usage I see used. They're just people who will lie/cheat and in general don't give a shit about others. It takes a few years to catch on, but once you do it is pretty eye opening. Poker can be a lot of fun with the right crew, but you realize you can't trust any of the hustling fucks. There is no floor telling you to shush it etc. You see all sorts of shit you'll never see in a casino. Stuff that'd have you instantly 86d.

The few homegames I've been to have been in LA, and they only spread NL Holdem.

I played 5-10 against a collection of passive/straightforward tards that were incredibly easy to read.

Sadly, the rake was so brutal that I couldn't justify coming back, or even staying a long time.

Yep that sounds about right. Brutal rake. I listened to one of your radio shows where you were talking about $5 rake at 40/80 in LA and complaining. I was thinking.. biggest limit game in town is 10/20 and rake is $10. 1/2 NL $10. $10 pot, I bet $10... Get $8 pushed to me. (Yea, they were raking uncalled).. Then there is all the cheating. About a year ago, I was at a round n round 1/2 PLO/NL. I was just drunk and playing. A well known super degenerate (think lost his factory) is there. He loses a bit, pisses off one of the other action players. Then he announces he is going out to his car to get 2k. So... I didn't think anything about this until later.. but the dealer kinda stopped and ask "Are we waiting for XXX?". I was like sure, as there wasn't much other reason to play. VERY FIRST hand, degen goes allin. He has AK, the gamerunner/houseman has either KK or AA. I was like woooah. The dealer looked sheepish. Then I started thinking about it ... I think it was a setup. Thats why the 'are we waiting?' question. Shit like that is common. I was once flop betting a house man. I ended up having most of the chips by running super hot. This guy, who I had considered a friend... and hte dealer too.. Then proceeded to set me up on one big bet. I was super drunk. All these grifty people try to get to you when you're drunk. Sometimes I catch on at the time, sometimes later, and probably sometimes never. Blech.

The problem is the rake, but a lot of that goes to write off debt. So it is a bit artificially high. Now I just play in a dealers choice game. Brings the fun back to poker and it is pretty scrub free. Games where you play 6 card draw. 5 card high, 6 card low, with A-6 being wheel low. All sorts of shit like that. Unfortunately there aren't that many people willing to play dealers choice like that.... but its great since everyone knows how to play holdem decently by now and not so much these games.
