This was briefly touched upon earlier, but I highly doubt the percentage of NFL'ers who are gay/bi is equal to the general population. Let's assume a 7-8% gay/bi for the whole population. i'd guess the percentage of gay NFL players to be around 1-3% of the total players, much like I'd assume the percentage for male hairstylists to be around 40-60%. It's really just easy cultural math, but because of our overly PC world today no one will write about it.
This also might be why there are barely any out gay male poker players.
I have a feeling that poker is less appealing to the typical gay man than the typical straight man, just as it's a much more appealing game to men than women.
I can tell you that I have played with VERY FEW flaming gay guys in live poker. I'm sure I've played with some "straight-acting" gays and just didn't know it, but the fact that there are just about zero flaming gay poker players would seem to support my theory.
