Is online poker even close to being legalized and regulated here in the United States? I haven't been keeping up with it lately.

They are pioneering into it as we speak. I am not 100% convinced this State play, does not force the Federal movement. Not impossible that you wake up one day and all of a sudden there is a push for another Federal bill. If not, looks like the compacted State model will win.
The 1 major issue with this, is allowing every state to operate. I am not hip to the functionality of the state plans. That would just completely fragment the market again, the very thing that is wrong with A.C today, neighboring competition. Christie is incredibly all of a sudden hip to the script. He is a big part of this movement. New Jersey is big, he is a prominent figure in the (R) party obv., if nothing more the Feds took notice when Christie jumped on board with igambling.
Just a matter of time, not when. I just do not think it will function anything like it used too. Getting vendor licenses to work for/in casinos is rigorous. The days of many and many of affiliates, and rakeback are over. I would argue all the data-mining as well. The house will now offer comps/airline flights (high rollers), standard stuff to bring the brick and mortars more.
It is all fascinating really. Be fun to watch how this all unfolds. Then look back and be like, remember when...
What a huge pain in the ass all of this has turned out to be. I haven't been tuned into the poker world at all lately so it is good to hear that we are on the right track, or at least we seem to be. The last I heard was when Utah went ahead and made it illegal so I'll have to find a way to play based out of Nevada but still, seems like there is hope?
