This is a far superior thread than the other Freddy thread
guy scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
Edward > Freddie all day.
Who remembers when they bastardized poor Freddy in the late 80s and 90s, making all kinds of awful shows/sequels involving him?
"Freddy's Nightmares" was a good example. It was first-run syndication, typically shown late at night on some local/non-affiliated station. It was a horror anthology show, with nothing having to do with Freddy, except he would be introducing them.
It started in 1988. A year later, "Tales from the Crypt" showed up, and did it much better.
Robert Englund is a neighbor of a really good friend of mine. I've had many a block party with him and he is one of the coolest down to earth guys I've ever met.
Devidee was more scared of freddy jewger IS THIS THING ON
The funny thing was that I first knew Robert Englund as "Willy", the gentle, bumbling alien from the "V" miniseries, which premiered in 1983.
The character was the exact opposite of Freddy.
This was a year before Nightmare on Elm Street.
Englund only became Freddy because he was able to squeeze the filming in right before the "V: The Final Battle" miniseries. Most actors weren't interested in the role, as the film was low budget and expected to be a failure. Even Englund wasn't excited about the role.
