    MegaMillions ODDS SIMULATOR.....

It is really hard to win the Mega Millions lottery. So hard that it can be difficult to comprehend what long odds confront its players.

Why not try for free on this Mega Millions lottery simulator? You'll be able to try the same numbers over and over, simulating playing twice a week for a year or 10. You'll never win.

    130 bucks in 1024 plays......

Not with that kind of attitude.

I'm winning and putting yEBSITE into the One Drop. Hopefully, then he can forgive me for stealing.

There is actually an overlay in the current jackpot, so if you were ever looking for a really good +EV bet with excellent risk to reward this is it

Is it really +EV? With a record jackpot there will also be a record amount of tickets bought. Isn't there a good chance that it will be split 2 or 3 ways thus killing the positive expected value?

besides this, what about the fact that an entry isnt $1, its $2?

One of the most interestign articles I read aabout statistical odds and lottos shopwed that you can nearly double your EV by choosing less frequently picked numbers (i.e. numbers over 31). The article said that still it was normally -EV as a awhole but way better than going with your own numbers. I imagine in this case would be enough to make it plus EV

To buy all 176m lottery combos, it would take 5.5 yrs if you were able to get one ticket per second.

When I was 14, I wrote a BASIC program to simulate the relatively new California Lottery in the same fashion -- except you could play up to a million tickets.

    Had the same depressing results.

Figured I'd give it a few more tries..

    Ticket: 7, 28, 29, 39, 51, Mega: 15 Lottery: 7, 27, 28, 29, 51, Mega: 15 Winners: 7 28 29 51 + Mega Millions ball 4 ball(s) correct. plus the Mega! Four balls + Mega ball wins $10,000!

You played 1040 games of Mega Millions. It cost $1040. You won $10233.

Damn, just give me one more number then that in the real drawing and I'll be good.

Sorry guys, forgot about this one after just tossing out the +EV arguement. Basically there are a lot of factors at play here that make it +EV. Not only can you hit the jackpot, but you can also win secondary and tertiary prizes and so on.

In addition to the 1 in 175 million jackpot players can also win:
    $250k = 1 in 3.9 million
    $10k = 1 in 690,000
    $150 = 1 in 15,000
    as well as $10, $7, $3, and $2 prizes

I think the average ROI is something like 50% on a typical jackpot (something like $50 million) So a jackpot of $400 million (or whatever the hell it is) seems like pretty good odds to me... Of course, once the government gets involved and takes their cut it's probably back down to -EV

I hope you know why lottery's came to be, I guess I could be interpreting your statement "tax on the stupid" wrong or I suppose I could be supporting that statement but lottery's were introduced to us to help fund roads, schools and wars. Lotto's still stick there chest out at how they fund public schools to this day.
