I am currently in Lombard, IL at a horrible convention. I have the rest of the night off and am thinking about hitting up the closest casino. My quick research tells me the Hollywood Casino in Aurora is my closest option.
My question for you locals is what is my best mode of transportation? Do they have buses, trains, or taxis around here? Furthermore, is it worth my time and effort to go to this place? What types of games might I encounter?
If you are in Lombard, you have a few options. Your best IS that Hollywood Casino in Aurora. Another is Grand Victoria in Elgin. You could travel quite a bit east over to the IL/IN border for more poker room options, but its quite a hike. Rivers Casino is north of you right by Ohare, but I dont think they have a poker room and their limits are higher than Elgin and Aurora. Aurora has a poker room, and you can see their table limits/tourney schedule on their website.
Cabs have to be called. You wont just find them driving around aimlessly waiting to find someone in need of a ride.
If you want to just do stuff downtown, there are METRA train stops not too far from you to head into one of the two downtown terminals for probably $5 each way.

He wasnt in Chicago though, he was in Lombard, which is about 30 minutes west, and his transportation was limited to cabs, which would make it quite a trip to Hammond.
Logistically, I would have just said fuck poker for this trip and gone out for a nice meal and drinks, so his end result was pretty good, IMO.
If you MUST play poker while anywhere around the Chicago area, Hammond is where you want to go.
