Great films you took ages to see

I've recently seen for the first time:
    The Birds
    The Big Lebowski
    Forrest Gump

The first two I just had never got round to seeing, Forrest Gump I'd swerved through some misguided notion it would be too schmaltzy.
It is schmaltzy, but in a good way, and so much more besides. Brilliant film, deserved all the plaudits and prizes it got at the time.

    Thanks for your support.

Forrest Gump is ok, they did the effects well, but certainly wasn't best picture. Best Picture that year should have gone to Pulp Fiction.

I never saw the 6th Sense and probably never will, as it was spoiled for me almost immediately after it came out. I'm sure there's more to enjoy in the film than just the twist, but I feel I'd be having a less satisfying experience.

EDIT: Same deal with Citizen Kane.

EDIT 2: I was going to pass on Fight Club for the same reason, but eventually got roped into watching it some years later.

I saw Fargo like 5 years after everyone else saw it. I thought it was a classic

Same with the Kevin Spacey movie where the hot chick covered herself with roses. I am in the minority but I thought that movie was average.

I still have not seen Casablanca. I did watch To Kill a Mockingbird a few months ago. Classic, especially when the guy poached the rabid dog.

Steve Buscemi is GOD, he nailed Donnie, I almost thought it was really him.

It took me at least a decade or maybe a dozen years before I was duct taped to a chair and forced to watch 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. It was pretty good, for the 4 humans on earth who have not yet seen it.

Love this movie. Saw it roughly 35 years after it was released.

Took me about four years after it's theatrical release to see this. WTF was I thinking?

My advice would be to watch the first 2 in order, then wait another 25 years to watch the other 2.

Also never seen Raiders. It seems like something I may have enjoyed as a kid but I have no interest checking it out now as an adult.
