It comes as no surprise in a country which has banned the item on the left for being a danger to children, but not the item on the right.

Millions of the thing on the right exist in private households without millions of dead children to follow. I suppose it's harder to ban maniacs instead of tools though. Governments with unlimited power kill millions, not citizens.

Maybe I misunderstand how conservatism and liberalism works. I often say that I'm a social liberal and fiscal conservative. I thought that meant letting people pretty much do what they want without much government interference, and not going too crazy with spending.

I'm confused because I keep seeing Democrats behave like social conservatives and Republicans like fiscal liberals.
I am off the charts left wing when it comes to my social stance and pretty conservative when it comes to how government should conduct itself with my money. That being said, I am identified as a Libertarian. The Republican party used to be Libertarian but now is center-right and only hopes to get to rule over the current budget one day, not change it and make it more stable. Whenever you vote for either party, vary little gets overturned, just turned over. Peanut butter and 3rd party time, imo.

Judge halts mayor's soda ban, calls it 'arbitrary and capricious'

A state judge on Monday stopped Mayor Bloomberg's administration from banning New York City restaurants and other venues from selling large sugary drinks, a major defeat for the mayor who has made public a health initiatives a cornerstone of his tenure at city Hall.

The city is "enjoined and permanently restrained from implementing or enforcing the new regulations," New York Supreme Court Judge Milton Tingling decided Monday.

The regulations are "fraught with arbitrary and capricious consequences," the judge wrote. "The simple reading of the rule leads to the earlier acknowledged uneven enforcement even within a particular city block, much less the city as a whole….the loopholes in this rule effectively defeat the state purpose of the rule."

The food-related edict of his that I like is requiring restaurants to put calorie and fat numbers on their menus. Packaged food has that info readily visible. I can't remember if the NYC rule is for fast food, sit down restaurants, or both. People should be free to eat anything they want. But the content of what you're eating should be shown to you before you order it.
This likely is the first reasonable post you have made in years.

The last time I was in the lower Manhattan I went to the Friday's there. They had the caloric intake of their appetizers on the menu. Basically they were like 2 Big Macs, and they were only appetizers. I saw some fat guy that night eat some cheese sticks by his-self and that was like 800 calories and then he ordered his cheese devoured Kobe beef. Unreal.

    +1

You blame the 2 liter and not the unworkable solution of these people being the burden of the tax payer, brilliant.

Too bad Bloomberg just got bitch slapped by that judge, huh? Stop telling me what I can and cannot do, but thanks for being a useful tool of those that would eventually take away something that you care about.
