From the John Sepulveda School of Charity Tournaments: A-Rod's 2006 Charity Tournament Donated just $5k out of $400k in buyins

I wonder how many other "charity" tournaments ended up being scams/semi-scams. I know of a few that are confirmed, but I bet a lot of them had shady things going on.

I think poker players are easy to take advantage of when it comes to "charity", because many feel guilty that they don't directly contribute to society, and feel this is a way to give back. Many are also afraid to question anything when it comes to "charity" because they're afraid it will make them look bad.

A logical answer would be the people in charge of getting the money to the charity ran off with it and A-Rod barely paid any attention because he did this for publicity but wasn't personally going to be the one to handle the funds.

Sepulveda obviously handled the funds with 22q but the people involved actually care and it didn't take near the time to expose him compared to A-Rod's charity which for $400k you would think a whole lot of follow up investigating would of been done. I mean 2006???

Fuck charity. They are all scams in my opinion. The only people I give money to are homeless people. And I don't care if they buy drugs or beer with it as long as they do something with the money that puts a smile on their face.

why go all the way back to 2006 when Annie Puke and UB were running Anti Up for Africa during the WSOP you know there had to be shady stuff going on there, plus Anti Up wasn't even a 501C non-profit for the first 2 years, they were just allegedly sending the cash to the Center for American Progress run by John Podesta a front group for far left wing agendas and Don Cheadle the sucker pulled in big name hollywood types to play in it
