Here is a poem that I wrote about Dan Druff

    Dan Druff
likes to be picked up like a pup
bit down on the neck and lifted up by the scruff
i've seen him eating trash at jack in a box
    he's always cutting costs
dan druff likes to be picked up
    he's like a neutered cat
    in that he is neutered
    dan druff
    likes to buy me stuff
he's gonna by me some drugs
so i can get fucked up

I wouldn't view that amount to be enough to never have to earn again for the next 40+ years with a shaky economy. If you could expect returns on conservative investments to be what they've been historically, you could, but I don't think anyone assumes that anymore.

Do you mean > ? I don't know about the bank, but I would guess he's way more liquid than most people given the job.

Obviously I have no idea what anyone has, but Druff has lost greater than $100k on a few occasions that I recall him talking about. He didn't plan on having a day like that, but he knew it could occur. He played 400/800 when he liked the line-up where one could expect a net hit of $50k on just a bad day, not a horrible day.

Even your average pro with good bankroll management knows never to lose more than 5% of your br in any given day, not that they always follow that, but those that survive do, which would be like $2 million on his worst days online. Druff just strikes me as on the very conservative side of something like that. I don't see him losing 10% of his entire net-worth in a single bad day.

Life is long. The last meeting that I sat in on negotiating UAW contracts, we figured the average pension to cost like $48k times an average of 22 years, with it decreasing slightly to around $34k after they hit 65 and it was augmented by SS, and the average retirement age was like 56. It was worth like $700k on average with benefits and all. An average teacher's pension is worth over $800k.

A married couple who both worked for the government would have pensions that are worth 1.5 million at a later age, and you wouldn't consider them rich. Those are things a poker pro won't have. School tuition has risen by an average of 8% a year for the past 50 years, so a good, not great college that costs $30k per right now would be around $70k per year in 17 years when Benjamin gets that age. To never have to earn again, you need a lot of money. You have to be a 8 figure n-word as jay Z would say to even think of full retirement at 40ish, because you can't just assume return on investments will be as it has been in the past.

Druff's net worth is between 2 and 3 million. I remember a DD radio show back in the day when Micon said some guy (I forgot his name) was worth 10 times Druff. Druff said no way the guy is worth between 20-30 mil.

408McMikey also is never going to work again, but I suspect his life expectancy is a bit shorter.
When faced with a difficult decision, ask yourself "What would Micon do?", then do the opposite.

I think that 100k thing only happened one time and from the way Druff reacted I think that was more than 5% of his roll. If he has only done this one time that is still amazing for a poker player.

BCR I don't want to post personal info about the Druff family wealth, but even split 3 ways Druff will be inheriting some large coin.

I also don't mean too imply Druff is sitting around waiting for the money like Marty, it is still a nice cushion down the line.

Druff's family will ensure the tax man gets as little as possible which means the wealth is moving generations gradually. Hence Druff doesn't have to work.
