They are mad at him because he's trying to form a group dedicated to nominating "electable" GOP candidates.

Like many Republicans, myself included, Rove is tired of watching the party toss away easily-winnable Senate seats by nominating terrible extremists in the primary. Harry Reid still has a job for this reason. Republicans have thrown away a staggering 6 Senate seats since 2010 in this fashion.

Rove is 100% right with what he's doing, and the Tea Party feels threatened.

I think we need Newt Gingrich to come back out of retirement and teach the party to get along, like he did in 1994.
