    Back from Vegas

Full trip report to follow but to hold you over here are some observations I made while there.

The Chinese fucking run the city now, yes it is Chinese New Year but at all the nice casinos I estimate 80% of the dealers are now Asian (assuming they speak Mandarin). The Chinese were everywhere.

Also, will still never get over grown Asian men holding hands. I don't care what culture says, still very gay.

Is it just me or are the hooker cards people worse than before? Maybe it was just because I was staying center strip this time but holy fuck 6 on every corner is crazy.

Sunday night I saw a mobile pot shop, these two people were walking around popping down on the ground and selling weed, they could then fold their bag back up and keep walking.

Watched some poor homeless person get kicked in the nuts by 3 college kids for $30, tough way to make a buck.

Got a dirty look from the staff when I asked which Tiger mauled Roy.

I was hammered one evening walking over to Excalibur from NYNY and the Timeshare Salesman got more than I am sure he was planning. I either do the standard "No Thanks" or the just complete cold shoulder when walking by these people. He asked, "you in town tomorrow night?" I decided to just walk by and ignore him. As I am walking down the ramp he quips, "I guess that means no right?" I stopped, walked back to him and asked him something to the effect if he enjoys misleading patrons about his real job and something about how I didn't think it was possible to make a Hawaiian shirt look gayer than it already did but he accomplished that. I then proceeded to do his "job" for him. I stood next to him and asked each person that walked by, "would you like to buy an over-priced timeshare from this guy, he is going to give you free tickets to a show or free hookers." He quickly slithered his way back into the booth.

As a sidenote, only go to Vegas in the Spring / Summer when you can go to the pool at the hotel. You can spend all day there and have a good time.

Did you happen to meet the same 2 "ladies" that Druff ignored? Sounds like they could have used your company.

I was going to say what a douchebag you were going after the time-share guy but I reread and you did say you were hammered so that is within limits. I know those guys are annoying but doing what you did certainly won't stop them from doing their jobs.

I wouldn't have done it sober but I will say I have zero sympathy for them.

They just outright lie to people passing by to try and get them to go to a high pressure sales presentation.

They are the scum of the Earth. The hooker card people are just a bunch of Hispanic's trying to make a living, and I am cool with but can't handle the lying of the timeshare guys.

Also, I would have continued on my way if he wasn't a complete tool about me trying to ignore him.

    I agree with abrown83.

    Timeshare salesmen are the worst.

They are aware that there are a lot of gullible rubes out there who have a little bit of money saved up. They give away things such as free hotels rooms and free shows, with the only requirement that you have to first sit through a 90 minute "no pressure" presentation about the timeshares.

Said rubes think this is a sweet deal. Just sit there for 90 minutes, tune out the presentation, and score a few free nights' hotel stay and tickets to a show.

Of course, that's not how it goes. The presentations are anything but "no pressure", and the rubes are tricked into believing that they are making both a great investment and giving themselves a place of their own to stay in the future while on vacation.

The whole process involves taking advantage of the stupid and/or naive. I don't mind businesses profiting from stupid/naive people spending their money in stupid ways, but these snakes actually fish marks out of a crowd and reel them in. The presentations themselves are often filled with lies and exaggerations.

These timeshare "trips" are also sometimes sold through print ads and radio ads. Believe it or not, Roseanne (yes, THAT Roseanne) was involved with a timeshare here called Tahiti Village. If you drove between LA and Vegas a few years ago, and turned on the "Highway" radio stations, you couldn't miss the awful commercials with Roseanne having an incredibly fake "telephone conversation", promoting the timeshare. You would get a "3 day, 2 night" (I hate that term) hotel stay, along with tickets to Roseanne's show in Vegas. I was very surprised to hear Roseanne getting involved with shady shit like this, since I assumed she had to be loaded because of the immense success of her TV show. I guess she blew it all.

Of course, Roseanne is a strange bird. She has a radio show on a super-fail station in San Bernadino, CA. I am not kidding when I tell you that our Druff & Drexel show here on PFA has better ratings than Roseanne's show. That's how fail of a station it is. Despite that, she and her husband show up (remotely) for 2 hours each Sunday and do their show.

Here is a horror story involving a rube who was tricked into paying $50,000 for a unit worth a fraction of that, as well as conned into paying for "free" trips!

When he got wise to it and canceled within the 5-day period required by Nevada state law, the company that owned Tahiti Village pretended not to receive it in time, and denied his cancellation!

Timeshares aren't investments that anyone should ever expect to see a return on. Not sure why people look at them as such. No one travels for free. What do you figure you'll have spent on travel at the end of your life, Druff? Does this make you a fool?

The difference is that I have the freedom to travel where I want and where I want. I am not roped into the same property at a specific time of year.

But that's not really the issue here.

These timeshare sale prices are HUGELY inflated by the developer. They pay snakes in the grass to pick out rubes from the crowd (usually couples who appear to be from out of town), and get them to sit through a high-pressure presentation where they lie about what a great investment it will be. The people who buy almost always believe it will make them money in both the short and long term, through both appreciation and rental. They even make false claims about tax savings. So like this guy who was tricked into paying $50,000, they salespeople showed him a lot of crap that made him think he was getting a great deal, and that it would do nothing but go up in value. He got home, loaded up eBay, and found a unit identical to his listed as "$14,999 Buy it Now", and even THAT was inflated.

If I own a house worth $300,000 and list it at $1,000,000, and some idiot comes and says he wants to buy it, I'm not unethical for selling it to him at that price because I haven't misled him. He just wants to make a stupid purchase. However, if I tell him, "All of those houses like this one in the neighborhood are going for $1.3 million, but I just really need to get this done and move out of state, so I'm pricing it cheap", and he falls for it, then I'm a scumbag and a borderline scammer.

The latter is what the timeshare people were doing at Tahiti Village, and basically everywhere that timeshares are sold.

NEVER buy a timeshare from the developer.

BTW, 1-bedroom timeshares are going for as little as $900 right now at Tahiti Village:

    http://www.sellmytimesharenow.com/ti...Number/807471/

The LOL thing is that some deluded tards are trying to sell 2-bedrooms for as much as $38,000:

    http://www.sellmytimesharenow.com/ti...umber/1262590/

To be fair, this one is 2-bedroom and you can use it every year instead of every 2 years (the $900 one is 1-bedroom and only is usable every 2 years), but still LOL @ that price difference.

Also, Tahiti Village was promoted as being on the Strip.

    It's not.

They can legally say that because it's on Las Vegas Blvd, but it's actually in southeast Vegas by the 215.
