Druff, you have to admit that is pretty funny.
Druff, you have to admit that is pretty funny.
The funniest part is the fact that Jasep himself made that picture.
Good video Vegas1369.
There is a spot where Muhammad Ali is on focus owning.
Why are there no more heavyweights from the USA?
Outside the Superbowl and the Olympics, there is not a better event. In fact, maybe none supersedes a heavyweight fight.
Watch. 1:45 might be the greatest clip ever filmed.
The lack of great heavyweight talent coming out of the US is baffling. Granted, unfortunately with the size, strength and style of the Klitschko's they are practically unbeatable, but there hasn't been anyone from the US, or really anywhere for that matter, that can legitimately compete with them. It really makes no sense that out of the 300,000,000+ people in this country we haven't developed someone that can compete at the top level in the HW division. Hopefully that changes soon. People keep saying boxing is dead... Once some really good HW talent from the US hits the scene that will all change with the quickness.
Its hard to believe we cannot find ONE Heavyweight boxer in the USA.
The fucking sad thing is everyone would pay to watch a heavyweight fight on TV.
You know what is funny? Druff could put a Heavyweight fight on. Now everyone will say, that if fucking stupid. Everyone laughed at Don King back in the day.
One of the greatest things about this fight was the collective at the gasp from the crowd @ the 2:03-5 mark.
Hardly any people saw this fight, it was in Japan at 9am in the morning. It was supposed to be a simple tune up for the Holyfield fight. Then the rape happened.
Tyson basically said years later he never recovered from the uppercut and that his career was basically over, even though he was basically able to parlay his hype into another 7 years or so and $100M.
Vegas is correct. One US Heavyweight to win the title, and boxing is back as probably the top event in the world. Nothing was larger than the first two Heavyweight matches of Holyfield - Tyson. And if the boxer is white, a title fight it would be bigger than the Superbowl
Nobody from the US wants to go into boxing anymore. A big strong fast black man is going into basketball or football. There are hardly even any more US-born black baseball players, they are all from Latin America.
Plus boxing won't ever be as popular now that people are much more aware of the brain damage it causes. Even football may have to change because of this. Howard Cossell of all people came out against boxing toward the end of his life because of this.

Boxing is dead in the US because there is no money in it for these guys. The best athletes all gravitate toward Football and Basketball because they are immediately rewarded and by the time they are 25 they are millionaires 10-100 times over. Realistically, if Lebron James had boxed from the age of 8 he would be a dominant force (assuming 6'7" boxer is feasible), or someone like Adrian Peterson. But why would a super-gifted athlete pick boxing over basketball or football? You get your head smashed in for 10+ years and the chance of you making any serious coin before 30 is pretty rare.
So what we have is the same problem we have with Soccer, these are our "second-tier" athletes, the very best go where the real money is, with a few exceptions who just generally love a particualr sport.
In other countries the best athletes gravitate towards Hockey, Soccer, Boxing, etc because of culture and training facilities, but also because there is no money for them in sports like football and basketball (if they can even find the training facilities for these).
