Revolution Network Set to Launch Fair Play Technology

    http://www.gambling911.com/poker/rev...on-030113.html

Gambling911.com can report that the largest US-facing online poker network (also accepting players from around the world), Revolution Poker Network, has just launched Fair Play technology

    What is Fair Play Technology?

The new feature groups players into three categories (recreational, normal and advanced) whereby each category of players represents roughly 33 percent of the active Network player liquidity.

By filtering these tables, Fair Play attempts to prevent recreational players from going head-to-head with more advanced players. In other words, it might not be in a relatively novice individual’s best interest to go up against the likes of a Michael Mizrachi or Annette Obestrad, two of Lock’s most coveted pros. Customers can see the three player levels via the lobby.

The so-called “normal” player will be able to go up against either the recreational or advanced poker player.

Additionally, Fair Play introduces new types of games tailored for both Recreational and Advanced players. Initially, the Network will launch Beginner’s tables for Recreational players and 3-max tables for Advanced players.

The Normal category of players will also have their own set of Beginner’s tables so that new players joining (which are not categorized as Recreational) will be able to view Beginner’s tables right from the start.

Fair Play filters high stake and HU tables for Recreational players to prevent these individuals from sitting at more advanced tables and losing their hard earned bankroll faster.

The Revolution Poker Network is home to the likes of Lock Poker, Cake Poker and Intertops, just to name a few.

Speaking of Lock Poker, that company will be lifting its player segregation model with Fair Play Technology being launched.

Lets tell people they are shitty, beginners, amateurs, or advanced. This is just awful that online sites would even do this and in ways it is discriminatory.

A lot of poker players are blinded by reality. Many players have huge egos and feel they are WAY better then they actually are. Sometimes it's just a pipe dream but in other times it's just the rushes they have of certain times at the table where they ran really well thus won and feel they are on top of the world.

When a player is running well it seems barely anything can go wrong thus their confidence is higher and for many their egos are too. Why should a poker network tell them "You are no good" or in other words "Your skill level is not of someone whose an amateur"?

If someone believes they are way better then they are I feel the site should let them do that. It' can be an expensive lesson for the player to learn and they might not ever but the site is doing a disservice to those players that once were in this beginner/recreational/fish category. I know I didn't win right away playing poker and have made numerous bankroll management mistakes along the way.

When you walk into a casino and the guy is awful they don't say "Hey buddy, you should really be playing on this $1/2 no limit game the play is much softer then the $2/5 NL game your wanting to sit at.

So I guess this is the new shady way to generate more rake in 2013. First Party, now Revolution/Lock.

Lock gets the added benefit of less money won by the "sharks", thus reducing their cashout burden. I still believe they are nearly broke.

They are dreaming if they think they can successfully pull this off. This will lead to all kinds of shady multi-accounting, and the grinders who follow the rules will be the ones that get the shaft.

BeerAndPoker also brought up another great point. Nobody wants to be told that they are a crappy poker player. Most people believe they are "good" after playing just a few sessions. Often times they actually WANT to take on the "best" of the site, as they want the rush of beating the best opponents they can find (and therefore believing THEY are actually best). This is insulting to recreational players to say, "Sorry, you suck. You're not allowed to play with the big boys. You have to sit in the kiddie pool."

The name "Fair Play Technology" is also a joke, as there's nothing fair about it. Presumably all someone has to do to get "recreational" status is create a new account and lose a little bit at low stakes. This is so ripe for abuse, and I wouldn't even blame those abusing it, as the policy sucks and is obnoxiously unfair in the first place.
