It is one thing if I was a polished sports talk guy getting paid to do this by ESPN or Fox or an internet site but I am not that guy and that is not the situation. Over the past 2 weeks while trying to sell advertising for VPR and trying to spark some affiliate stuff I spoke with a few people who have been involved in the podcast/radio world and I realized that we will probably never make money and if we do it will be minimal and even if we did make money it would have to be split up 3 ways.

I'm surprised you didn't work out beforehand that there's no money in this game. The reality of this community, lets just call it "donkdown spin-offs", is that it runs to a few hundred people, most of which are not going to part with any cash. They're likely to harass sponsors rather than support them.

As entertaining as the podcast / shows / forums are, it can only ever be an "open source" project. The whole thing is run purely for the benefit of the community. Even with good quality programming, there's no commercial opportunity here right now.

The only potential upside is that if online poker comes back; then sponsors may return, but that's a very speculative long-term play.

This forum is the most likely to survive, because Druff has never looked to make it commercial venture. The best we can hope for is that a small percentage of the userbase put in the time, effort, (and maybe $) to keep the community alive and entertaining.
