Five people accidentally shot at three gun shows on Gun Appreciation Day

A shotgun injured three people at a North Carolina gun show, and handguns accidentally shot people at gun shows in Ohio and Indiana. By sheer luck, nobody was seriously injured. One show responded by forbidding personal weapons and one forbids loaded weapons. This implicitly acknowledges that loaded weapons in public places are inherently dangerous. But the same people insist that allowing loaded weapons in schools and other public places will make them safer.

A charter school in Michigan took Wayne LaPierre's advice and hired an armed guard to protect their school two weeks ago. They hired a former Sheriffs Department weapons instructor with 32 years on the force. Three day ago he left his gun in a bathroom open to students.

Gun Appreciation Day! If someone asked me whether that was real or an SNL skit I would have guessed the latter.

It's fucking hilarious. When is Land Mine Appreciation Day?

You wouldn't feel that way if you owned property in a country populated by 40 million Negroes, many of them desperately poor and unstable.

    Yeah, play the race card.

I think German Shepard Appreciation Day would be every bit if not more effective.

SNL did get a jab in,
Seth Myers, (not exact quote but close)
"its gun appreciation day, and in honor, everyone set your clocks back 100 years."

Accidents happen. I wasn't aware that all the anti gun people had never made a mistake in their lives. Thank you for clearing that up for me. If you wanna ban things that can cause harm, you may as well just put everyone in a plastic bubble. I would venture a guess that McDonalds and Phillip Morris will kill far more people this year than law abiding citizens with guns. Where is the outrage there? Guns aren't going anywhere. This is just the media's flavor of the month. Next month, it will be something else. Would it have made all of you feel better if he had used a knife? A bomb? A fucking hammer? Everyone's focus should be on early detection and treatment of mental health issues, not taking guns away from law abiding citizens. THAT is what causes these awful shootings.

You would undoubtedly hate to pay for the $$ required to put provide adequate services for the mentally ill. Thats what prisons are for in the US.

The problem with guns is the people who feel the need to carry them are in general the losers of society. They carry guns for 2 reasons. They fail to weigh threats appropriately. They value their handgun when there is almost 0 chance of them ever needing it. The other reason is it just makes them feel important in the world. This has held for any CCL holder I've ever known. You can't test for actual competence. The bar set by tests is extremely low. These are the reasons I've never been for gun confiscation, but I also have never been gungho for everyone walking around with a loaded sidearm. (See subject of this thread.) You end up with people like 4dragons carrying around a gun, and the people who can weigh threats appropriately don't.

I covered this in the Piers vs Alex Jones Thread. The Dixie gun show is about 5 miles from my house. When I found out I wasn't going to be able to sell any of my guns I decided to stay home and watch football.

I am sad I missed this guy:

In my mind, their are air quotations around accidentallly. I believe that at least one of them was on purpose. Generally speaking gun nuts are fairly adept at handling their weapons safely.

Every gun enthusiast I've ever known was somewhat off kilter and pretty clearly compensating for lack of confidence/penis/social acceptance just like dudes who rev their engines when it's not necessary. Not talking about people who own a gun, but many guns which would necessitate an entire rack

So, by your logic, a guy who owns one gun has at least an average sized penis and self confidence. But if he owns enough guns to necessitate owning a rack, he is "pretty clearly" compensating for a small penis and lack of self confidence? Makes perfect sense. You should run for office. You could probably win in California or New York.

Great stats rollo, too bad the car wasn't designed to kill or intentionally harm another being.

Good. I'm glad you see accidents are an everyday part of life. Guess we can shut this thread down now. Nothing is ever going to be 100% safe. If you are worried about being accidentally shot by a gun dealer at a gun show, don't go to gun shows. I don't recall these people ever asking that you babysit them from themselves.
