Im eating right out of a container of Edy's Slow Churned Drumstick flavored Ice Cream while reading this thread.
:realtalk
wonder if edys makes a ginger flavor?
jk kid jk
it worked twice? *giggling*
all you did was restrict calories, same as if you were cutting fat or protein
low carb diets, which tend to be high on fat and low on fibre are not healthy in the long term, and imo not sustainable
the reason diets like atkins, and variations of it work is that meat and fatty foods take longer to digest, hence less appetite
i own a gym, have peen a personal trainer/nutritionist, and from my experience it all comes down to common sense
what i usually do when helping someone is teach them how to shop healthy and read and understand labels....oh i help them with a pantry clean out, throw all the rubbish out
not bad for a 48 year old
Stopped reading after "don't want to stop drinking my morning Pepsi".
LOL... Sorry Druff. If you are serious about this the number one thing you have to do is quit drinking soda, even the diet shit. There is no way around this.
The only way you can lose weight, AND keep it off is by watching calories. Vegas is full of shit by saying, "stay away from diet sodas". Diet sodas have ZERO calories. They are fine. Now, they may not necessarily be healthy, but as far as weight loss they add zero weight.
You MUST count calories in order to lose weight. There is no other way. Exercise is important, and I work out 5 days a week, but in reality a 45 minute workout really only burns two slices of pizza. Don't get me wrong, EXERCISE for health reasons but not for weight loss. I am in generally perfect shape, but I have gained 10-20 lbs time and again and had to take it off.
Suggestions for a realistic diet:
Breakfast: Two eggs and 2 pieces of turkey sausage. Total 250 calories
Lunch: A 6" Turkey Sub with mustard or low calorie mayo, no cheese: 400 calories
Snack around 4pm: Fruit. Eat an apple or a banana. Or both. It does not matter. Call it 200 calories
Dinner: This is what does people in. People pack on 1,400 calories all the time at this meal, and they wonder why they are so fucking fat. It is critical for the first couple weeks you eat out so you get an idea what is under 700 calories. Most Menus list choices under 700 calories and this will give you an idea on what to cook going forward. Go to Outback, Applebees, Chilis, etc... and see what you like out, than cook it. 700 calories
Snack at 9pm: Just keep it to 200 calories
So you are 1,750 calories. You are below the 2,000 calorie allotment and are not starving yourself. At this pace you will lose 2 pounds a month. Add in some exercise, you can get it up to 3 or 4 pounds a month.
You must count calories. All these bullshit diets and 408 Mike shit is just that. Shit. It comes down to calories.
As a side note, have a cheat day a couple times a month where you add 500 calories a day. This way you are not freaking out. The key is instead of having 7 pieces of pizza, you have 3.
Druff,
get your cholesterol checked...
you probably are too high with the wrong type...then go from there with your diet (probably need to eat oatmeal, almonds, apples, fish oil pills) to lower your cholesterol--the fiber laden foods will help you feel filled up also...
get out of the house and away from the refrigerator--some gym time 2x per week for an hour lifting, and 2-3 times per week getting your heart rate up over 220-age beats per minute for 15-20 minutes (build up to this)--you won't ever need Viagra if you get with this program
and instead of Pepsi for your morning caffene rush try black coffee (it will put hair on your chest sonny-boy!)
Hey dipshit... He said he was worried about his health as well as losing weight. Continuing to drink sodas, especially first thing in the morning, is not HEALTHY, which you just said so yourself. They are not "fine". But then again, maybe Druff would be better off taking advice from an alcoholic attention whoring faggot like yourself. Just like you can't commit to actually doing ONE FUCKING THING you say you are going to do around here, Druff doesn't seem to want to commit to fully making this happen. Maybe he will lose the 30, but if he wants to lead a HEALTHY LIFE, he needs to stay away from the soda, diet or not.
You really are just a clusterfuck of fail.
face it druff, you fat fuck, you are a food degen
the problem is you lack any sense of vanity...if you had any, you wouldnt walking around with high waisted jeans and ill fitting tops
This is pretty much exactly right. The only way to lose weight is to be at a caloric deficit. The tricks such as cutting out soda for water or limiting carbs severely are basically just quick cheats to get that deficit. I needed to lose some weight last year, so I used myfitnesspal and tracked everything I ate (seems like its a pain, but you get very good very fast at estimating when you eat out, and inputing what you eat at home) You want to have a 500-1000 caloric deficit per day (corresponds to losing 1-2lbs/week).
So I tracked my calories and came up with the calorie number for me where I pretty much lost 1.5 lbs/week like clockwork for a few months. Its a certainty you will lose weight doing it this way.
Experiment with how many daily calories you need to lose 1-2 lbs per week and then keep at it. You don't really want to lose more than 2 lbs/week or you will be losing significant muscle. The other thing you want to do is to keep your protein fairly high (>100g day, myfitnesspal tracks this) which also promotes the weight you lose to tend more towards fat than muscle. Doing some moderate weight training will also help w that.
The nice thing about doing it this way is that no foods are totally off limits. If you haven't had a soda for a week and you want one today, just go ahead and have it, just add it to your calories eaten on the day (although drinking things like this will def make you hungry later on as it is not as filling as real food). Just try to eat a lot of fruit veggies and youll be on your way. But if you want to have dessert one night, just go for it. Allowing yourself to have occasional treats like this makes it mentally easier to diet for basically as long as you need to to take the weight off. And if you are tracking your calories all you need is the willpower to stick with it and time, the weight will come off guaranteed
I've never heard of a diet pop defense, pretty sure water is about infinite better for you short and long term though.
One more side note, while unrealistic and over-publicized, the whole 6 small meals a day is spot on. Having SIX or SEVEN 250 calorie meals a day does work.
The theory is, and it does work is humans were designed to be "hunter / gathers" in that they grabbed what they could, ate, and moved on. This is why people 10,000 years ago humans were not fat.
Due to Human Traditions, we came across this 3 Meal a day thing, where we overeat at each meal. I was at IHOP the other day and had like a 500 calorie breakfast: Two Eggs, two strips of turkey Bacon and ONE piece of toast. Not good, but not bad. But I was not hungry when I left.
Over next to me, I saw this huge fat woman and her chubby daughter devouring pancakes drenched in syrup with sausage and bacon, with a pile of hash browns. There was probably 3,500 calories on that table. I left, and given the Mom's obesity, I am sure lunch was a cheeseburger and dinner was some type of fried meat with lots of bread.
People wonder why they are so fucking fat.
COUNT CALORIES. 1,750 a day. As a side note, evening are the worst. Get a bag of carrots and celery and 30 calorie dressing. That works most nights and is my snack of choice. When you slip, make sure its a Healthy Choice desert. They are not bad.
You can eat 12" meatball sub from Subway and a six pack of Miller Light every day for a month and lose probably 5 pounds (if you limit it to that a day). It's a calorie game. Try a diet of nuts and berries and don't watch calories, technically healthy stuff, and see where it gets you.
My favorite scam are those healthy cereals. LOL. Raisin Bran. A normal bowl for a normal male with milk is like 700 calories. It's not that tablespoon serving they list on the back of the box.
So what's the problem? They list serving size on the box so you follow it - get # of calories and voila?
I mean I get that you are a troll. But you are all over the map with your ideas here and they make 0 sense.
LOL. A scoop of cereal is 120 calories. So you add 30 calories in sugar to make it taste decent and 120 in milk. So now you are 270.
If you are 110 lbs ok. But most males are going to 2x the serving and in some cases 3x the serving. That was my point. It's being realistic. Most males will go on a cereal bender if given the chance, which is why milk is a non entity in my fridge. If I have to have milk I will go into a convenience store and get a bottle of chocolate milk, drink half and toss the rest in the trash as I am leaving.
If you are trying to lose weight, having cereal and milk in the fridge is a disaster. In two days it will all be gone. That is like 3000 calories when you add it all up by itself.
You are much better off eating 2 bananas. You will be just as full @ 300 calories for breakfast.
Good luck.
Three tips from me for you to consider with all the rest;
1. Only weigh yourself once a week. Daily weigh-ins will quickly destroy your morale.
2. Walking is great exercise, even though it doesn't really feel like it. If it doesn't bring on the headaches I suggest you substitute walking for short drives whenever possible. It burns more calories than you think and can actually feel quite pleasurable rather than a chore.
3. The only way to lose weight is to reduce your calorie intake and/or increase your exercise level. Don't be fooled by fad diets, miracle pills or other quack short-cuts. They will be a waste of your money and won't help. The battle will be won or lost in your mind. Anybody can lose weight if they have the mental strength.
