This is obviously an improvement from about 232 where I started, but I'm also stuck here, and it's now been 2+ months. I was hoping to be around 210-215 by this point.

A few things have hindered the weight loss attempt:

    - After going through 2012 without being sick for more than 24 hours (the first year in my life I've ever done that), I didn't do nearly as well in 2013. I had two long-lasting colds in January-February, thus making it difficult to exercise.

    - I developed back problems in February, and they got much worse about 2 weeks ago. This has especially prevented me from exercising. I never had back problems prior to this, but sadly they mirror longtime problems experienced by my mom, so they are probably hereditary, but just took 41 years to appear.

    - I have done well with laying off the Pepsi during the day and drinking water instead. I have also done well with eating very little during the day. I haven't done as well at night. I have been eating big dinners and drinking more OJ that I should late at night.

    - I took a trip to Hawaii, where it was difficult to keep to the diet.

Unfortunately, with my back in really bad shape right now, I cannot do any kind of appreciable exercise.

I will try to drink less OJ at night, and eat smaller dinners, and see if that brings my weight down some more.
Hard to type this without it sounding like I am trolling, which I am not.

But that just sounds like a lot of fucking excuses. "My back hurts" "I was sick" "I was on vacation" "The moon wasn't in the right phase" "My dick hurts"

You don't seem to be taking this very seriously, just like you have admitted to doing in the past. You don't have to type a novel convincing me that you are telling the truth. I believe that you believe it's reality. But the mind can be very tricky when it's convincing itself that it can't or doesn't want to do something. Could you really not exercise when you were sick? Or was that an easy out? Would sticking to your diet really be THAT difficult on vacation? Shouldn't be if you are "serious" this time. Your back? Well, back issues are a bitch. But what are you doing about it? Are you being proactive to resolve the issue, or are you just using it as an excuse to be lazy and not follow through on your plan?

Again, I believe that you could type a novel explaining why each of these things is true, and you may even believe it in your own mind. But if you were taking this seriously, you would have at least stuck to your diet on vacation. You're sick? Ehhh, ok. Back hurts? I guess I get it. Vacation time? Have a little fucking will power. Do you wanna see Benjamin get married, or do you want that extra can of pepsi and a cheeseburger? Think about it.
Obv don't listen to this contrarian troll.

Anyone who has had back issues knows you do not want to aggravate the situation.

Keep up the work you've done. The water intake is very helpful and they say cold water actually helps with weight loss. Also see your family doc about your attention deficit condition. A prescription for Adderall or Ritalin will not only make you sharp at the tables you'll drop pounds like a drunken cockney.

I should edit my post with this......walking is probably the best thing you can do for a bad back and still get exercise and
the family will love it as well

losing weight will help your back issues. obv if your back is hurting and youre not able to exercise youre going to gain weight unless you eat right. so, eat right, and like les said....walk and then start exercising as soon as you can. or go the easy route and start popping adderall. if you don't have ADD, the stuff will kill your appetite. you will also be able to mod the hell out of this place 24/7. if you do have ADD, well, hell, at least that problem will be taken care of.

    druff, wish the best,

but you just dont have the right mindset...you are setting yourself up to fail

i have had a lot of clients with back problems who tried yoga/pilates and have made drastic improvements, and in some cases have no pain discomfort at all

you are in the danger years, the 40s, where all the vices through out the years come back and bit you in the ass. What you have to watch out for is pre diabetes/diabetes, i would get that checked out, especially with all the soda you consume

you need to also incorporate a weights program, as that will help to keep your skeletal structure strong and prevent you shrinking in height as you get older

you also need to have some sort of cardio, be it treadmill, walking a dog, if you dont have a dog, walk someone elses, or go to the park with your kid

A good exercize that will strengthen core muscles and relieve back pain is to walk briskly across a swimming pool in chest high water for 1/2 hour 3 times per week...excellent fat burner, can be done without stressing your back, and builds ab muscles & obliques to take strain of sore back. Usually 6 to 8 weeks of that and any sore back is fine, plus you will lose weight

At first I was miserable drinking water in its place, but now I have totally gotten used to it. For the first 2-3 weeks I was thinking, "Wow this is awful drinking just water", but now I actually like and look forward to the water.

It's just so tough late at night when I suddenly crave the orange juice and have a hard time staying away from it.
Have you thought about getting a juicer?
if it is fresh squeezed, its good for you, if not its like another soda.
I bring my nutri bullet to casinos, its great, the less greasy casino food the better.

But you might find you like other things, China's thread has gotten me back in shape.
I eat more now than ever, just eating right.

Like mix oranges and some carrots and I bet you could have an unlimited amount, drink to your heart desire AND not be hungry.

Back problems: Bro - do yoga. Yea it's more of what chicks do, but guess what? Girls have a lot of problems because of heels or big tits, so they do yoga.

All orange juice is high in calories, unless it's "diet" orange juice, which is basically watered down crap.

Orange juice is not bad for you, but it also is fattening.

Think there is a big difference between freshly squeezed OJ and pasteurized OJ. Basically, pasteurized OJ is boiled orange juice. When it gets boiled, it basically turns into pure sugar water....it is not unlike how you make maple syrup or sugar...you take sap and boil it down...only difference is pastuerized OJ still has more H20 kept in it. Fresh OJ is like eating a live plant. With all due respect, I think there is a big difference between the two.

If Druff is serious he should get a juicer and stop with all the excuses. Jack Lalane was a beast. Or become a drunk then u have an excuse why u r fat and it wont be cuz u smack fast food and Pepsi all day everyday that just means u r a weak person at least be addicted to something when u look like u do.. Your back hurts cuz you probably havent done a sit up since u had to in gym class when u were 12 your stomach is fat your core is rotted like an old rusty beer can my friend this is why your back hurts. You never played sports your whole life and you don't drink booze or beer so u r lucky u arent fatter then u are.

Druff, I agree w/everything you are saying when talking store bought OJ.
But, you are essentially saying eating oranges would be fattening.

FTR I didn't know any of this 2 months ago.
It is exactly what lurker is saying, and the reason they do this is so it will last for months on the store shelves.

A cup of OJ whether freshly squeezed, pasteurized, or from concentrate all have approx 25 carbs in it. Carbs are what feed our cells. It hardly matters at all what form they come in, different forms satisfy our hunger better but don't change how much they impact weight loss/gain. A cup of pepsi is maybe 28 carbs. Hardly a difference.

Can't you just not drink OJ?

Who the fuck couldn't put down the OJ if they identified it as a leak in their diet?

orange isnt bad for you, its just empty calories...better off eating the whole fruit and get the benefitf of fiber, which in turn causes a feeling of satiation

I just joined your forum tonight and am currently listening to last weeks show, I like this blog , I too am also pushing 41 years old and started thinking bout my heart health , I am a Mountain Dew addict I probably drank a 12 pack a day(at least) and I recently started cutting back and I recently went to Walmart and got a pitcher with a filter and fill the pitcher up and it automatically filters the tap water.I suggest doing that instead of spending $100 on bottled water. I wish ya buncha luck on sticking to your diet. I'm a smoker and recently bought a electronic cigarette to stop smoking. It's working so far I went from smoking almost 2 packs a day to just smoking maybe 2 or 3 regular cigs a day now..But anyways stop wasting your money on bottled water and go buy a Brittana Filtered Pitcher.
