These situations can turn into real nightmares!!! I dont know what you need to do but you cant take the banks word. Ive known of more than a couple situations where people get fucked and keep getting fucked in this spot. Id be tempted to open a new account.
Ask your bank to report your card as lost/stolen. This generates a new, fresh debit 16 digit debit card number, and prevents further authorizations to be taken from the old Visa debit number they have on file. If you simply order an additional debit card from your bank, it may be the identical 16 digit debit card number as your old card, which still allows authorizations to go through (read as: continue to auto debit with the number stored on file)
I happened to lose my bank card last week, and have a new one. They have the old number on file.
That is why I asked if they can somehow charge it to my checking account, because they don't have the new card number.
