My all time favorite 8-track was Queen - Night at the Opera.
In my youth, Fleetwood Mac Rumours, Ted Nugent dbl live gonzo, Styx Grand Illusion, Billy Joel piano man, Kings Kings are here, Pink Floyd the wall, Led Zepplin man with stix, the Monks bad habits... the only album I really listened to on repeat after high school was U2 Joshua Tree. Now I listen to my kids music.
That about tells you how old I am and where i grew up.
3rd Bass, to me, was one of the best rap groups of all time. Their Record Label fucked them over for the Beastie Boys.
Lyrically they were awesome. They had some very creative rhymes, and their samples were excellent. They also knew how to keep their lyrics in time/tempo with the beat...something that Jay-Z completely blows at. For two white guys, they were the shit.
also forgot to add a CD that came out WAY ahead of its time, and if they would reunite again and hit up some more festivals, they could get a rebirth
Digable Planets - Reachin (A New Refutation Of Time And Space)
Obvious omission in this thread imo:

In EVERY ONE of his songs, when there is like an 8 beat song, he finishes up the lyrics that should have been punctuated at the 4 beat, around the 5th beat.
When the end of the 8th beat hits, he still hasnt finished the lyrics. My ears want to hear verbal pacing match the pacing of the song. Most rappers do this. Jay Z and Biggie were two that were horrible at it.
Think of the line by Snoop.
Aint nothing but a G-thang BA-BY (ends perfectly with the beat). Snoop is pretty good with this, but occasionally slips up.
I know we are in the hate STP mode but Devil Without a cause was pretty good album.
"I gotta get set to go an' cut the lawn So I grab my Walkman but before I cut I go behind the garage an' fire it up."
I will most likely be back in this thread but I was surprised to see so much love for And Justice when I prefer Master of Puppets -- puppets may be a too obvious choice for the hipsters.
I don't know if soundtracks count but Repo Man is one I can listen to over and over.
And Blood on the Tracks is an obvious listen through that I never do anymore. Too much pain in those songs for repeat listening.

Animal Collective - Feels
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Frank Zappa - Burnt Weenie Sandwich

Its because I listen to rap for the beat, and when Jay Z cant stay with the beat, it fucks with my internal rhythm.
When I want to listen to shit that is all over the place, I listen to Jazz.
Not sure why you are criticizing. I enjoy music for certain things, and you enjoy it for others. Neither one of us is "wrong" or have bad tastes necessarily. I just dont like his tempo.
Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks and Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend are both outstanding choices and two of the best marriage fail records ever produced.
