Best sporting event you ever went to? ATTENDED. Post here

Videos not necessary if you can explain it.

This is the second best for me.

Fuck, I was so young then, hard to believe it was 16 years ago.

I remember just how loud everyone was screaming in Atlanta. Hard to believe I did not even want to go at the time.

The thing about Johnson when he went so vertical when he ran. I was mesmerized. Fuck the whole crowd was stunned.

I have the worst luck. I'm working with a small sample size, but I seem to have a nack for attending some of the worst games possible.

I was there for the season opener against the Steelers (that won the SB that year) where they thought it would be clever to make Pittsburgh wear their black home jerseys and keep the roof open in 100 degree weather. Saw some people get carted out from heat exhaustion. Texans lost and went 2-14 that year I believe.

I went to several Rockets playoff games the year they won a title. Of course, they lost every game I attended. I think I'm 0-10 lifetime in Rockets playoff games.

I got to see Vince Young scramble 30 yards for a TD in overtime, while half of the turncoat Houston fairweather fans cheered.

I have no good memories to share here.

That was at the peak of his drug use. Amazing stuff.

My dad had Pacer seats in the 5th row, dead center. I went to tons of great Pacer games throughout the 90s, but this one is particularly famous.

Reggie blatantly shoves Jordan as he comes around the key.

Thinking about Hall of Famers missing shots at the end, this one was notable because it was the first time the Pacers had beaten the Knicks in a playoff series.

After that game nobody left the arena for about 15 minutes. We had all wanted to beat the Knicks for so long, that when it happened nobody wanted it to be over.

Possibly. I dunno. Who knows anymore after Lance froze his blood.

All I am saying, is I had great seats and Michael Johnson went totally vertical in his run. There were gasps. People were looking around, like what the fuck.

My live sports game has been lacking since moving out of the Chicago area. The professional sports rotation in the 90's-00's (Jordan's Bulls, Blackhawks hockey, good White Sox and Cubs teams here and there, Bears football) was pretty tough to beat.

The 'best' was probably the 1996 NBA Finals, Bulls-Sonics.

Wrigley Field was electric the summer where a juiced up, still dark Sammy Sosa was owning heads. My first real 'right of passage' was being able to take the train to Wrigleyville for a game with a friend; Sosa hit one that day.

Since moving to NC, all of the 'best' moments have come in ACC basketball, even though I don't really like it. The atmospheres of Duke/UNC are just great. I went to a ton of Wake Forest games while Chris Paul was in college and they were good.

The most memorable was a Carolina-Wake Forest game when both teams were excellent. Julius Peppers played basketball at Carolina and threw down this crazy alley oop, LOL at Youtube quality. Doesn't look too amazing but the size of Peppers even then was incredible.

I'm dying to see some EPL action when I go to England in September.

    This was my #1

We actually drove to Memphis (not a bad town). I remember watching Lewis go into the ring and realize just how enormous he was.

    Secretariat's final race.

He was all class and in a league of his own.
No thoroughbred horse has been so dominant since the great Secretariat.

Was anyone at this event? With all the Phelps coverage, I think this was the highlight of the Games in 2012:

After HS, I played on a soccer team from the Midwest that went to Denmark, Norway and Sweden for 6 weeks, playing in various tournaments. During one of our games in Norway, a shitload of people started coming over to our field to watch us. I had no clue why, because we werent anything special. Towards the end of the game, I realized that the team that played AFTER US was Academia de Tahuchi, which is one of the top Soccer programs in the world, from Bolivia.

When the game ended, I decided to toss some stuff on the back of the net behind the goal (reserving a spot) and then after we all shook hands and the coach let us go, I camped out on the net for the next game. There were standing room only spots at this field (around 2-3K people with very little bleachers). I got to watch their U-16 team crush one of the top German teams, 9-0. Opening play, they passed it 5 ft, then the guy crossed it to the other side of the field, where the guy caught it on his chest, then volleyed it back to the center where the guy headed it to a winger, who volleyed it to about 10 yards out, and a guy bicycle kicked it upper 90. Its was sick as hell. They just jogged back to midfield like it was just another play, which had to soul crush everyone on the German team. One of the best soccer games ever, particularly for this age level.

    Forgot about this one.

Wayne Gretzky at age 14 paying against 18&19 year olds in Junior hockey making the opposing players all look so foolish and totally unskilled by comparison.

You just knew he was going to be really famous some day.

What else do I have to say besides the title? We were sitting at the top of the stadium. My friend wanted to leave. He was trying to go right before the play. My friend and I weren't having it. We stayed, and so did he. It was freezing cold, so we were all jacked up on god knows what. The play happened. Everyone went nuts. I ended up punching my friend in the face. Not very hard, but hard enough to sting a little. Great memory....

This was my first day back from Haiti, and I was on a mental health break. It was amazing that night. As I do all of my games, I leave my seat early, and go stand behind the visitors and Phillies bullpen. There is an awesome standing room spot there, and it's always poppin. You get right up on the fence above the visitor bp and you harass the shit out of them. As long as you don't curse. You're good. Great time. Love the towels. It was spitting rain all night. So fucking fun...

I was just a kid, but we went to every single home game, and sat at the top of the stadium. We would buy pretzels every single time we got there, and my dad is a coca cola fiend and got that shit every time. Great moment to see, and great child hood moment.

The good stuff starts at about 6 minutes. This is just cool because it was the first game my girlfriend at the time had ever been to.

Where was this? That would have been about when he moved to Indianapolis.

This game was in a suburb of Toronto when Wayne played for the Seneca Nats. The Arena capacity was 1,500.

He followed up with 2 seasons in Sault ste Marie, On, setting tons of scoring records in Junior Hockey and then he turned pro with the Indianapolis Racers of the now defunct WHA. Following Indianapolis he went to Edmonton where he won 4 Stanley cups with the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL before he was traded to the L.A. Kings.

Wayne was always a deceptively fast skater with great passing and shooting ability and he absolutely loved to play the game.
