Wow got this one spot on. Was a bit worried at 4-2 to MVG with a 107 average but Phil always gets better as the night goes on which is why his record is unsurpassed. His 16-time world championship winner will probably never will be beaten in any sport.

If darts were a sport, it would be correct to say that Phil Taylor has dominated his sport more than anyone else has ever dominated any sport. The fact that darts is a game of sixteenths of an inch and that the difference between being great and being the best is infinitesimal makes what he has done over so many years difficult to even conceive of. He's like Roger Federer if Roger had slightly better hand-eye coordination and was fat and unathletic.

I only just discovered this recently during a hotel stay on pay tv.

Obviously its a sport: that you can bet on it with the bookies, the prize money for the tournaments is insane (250k brit pounds for first) and it uses some of the key skills of poker, handling pressure, quick math decisions, reacting quickly to changes in circumstance, heart and sometimes having to make the hard shots.

As for Phil Taylor losing, given he was trying a new style of dart earlier in the tourney vs Huybretch there could be a number of factors at play. Just glad I decided not to bet on him.

MVG out of of the world championships, knocked out by the other Dutch god, Raymond van Barneveld.

Taylor still in the World top 10, but not the power he was; couldn't beat Klaasen which was one of the easier routes through the last 16.

My money right now would be on Peter Wright to win
