People are stealing lampshades from the Luxor, and apparently nobody notices

A friend of mine is in Vegas right now, and staying at the Luxor. Would have gotten him a free room in Vegas but he didn't tell me about his trip until it was already planned and paid for.

He got into the room and found this:

That's him in the corner of the photo, calling the front desk and bitching about it.

The LOL thing about the situation is how this could have occurred in the first place.

Say that someone stole the lampshade from the room, which is hilarious to begin with. Why didn't the maid notice it was gone?

I guess it was possible that the lampshade was damaged and being replaced, but again, how could the maid have cleaned the room without reporting this?

My guess is that this was reported and they just didn't bother to do anything about it.

The Luxor was a shithole when it was build in 1993, so I can only imagine what it's like now.

Some drunk idiot knocked the lamp over and broke the lamp shade. I'm sure one has been requisitioned and it's just taking a while to get delivered. On a normal week, they would put that room out of occupancy until it was replaced. This week they have a full house and they're not going to pass up hundreds of dollars of revenue because of a broken lamp.

    this

they probably just assume the next person in the room will shrug it off like well the light still works and im barely even in here to begin with. If he does complain you knock some money off, comp a night or ship a buffet.

That's what I told my friend (the last part, to angle for a comp).

I don't believe they are out of lamps, unless they have had a rash of broken lamps in recent weeks.

They always have additional lamps around (and additional of everything) when it's a hotel of that size. That's because things are breaking or getting worn out nearly every day, given the number of rooms involved.

I just think someone either stole it (people steal weird shit from these rooms) or someone shit the bed and didn't bother to replace the lampshade when it was broken.

I guess there's a chance that they were really out of lamps and didn't want to take the room out of service, but that seems less likely than the Luxor just being incompetent.

I've been to Vegas many many times and I've never once thought of walking inside that place, I wouldn't ever imagine staying at the luxor.

    This.

The people that stay at the Luxor are probably just happy they have lights in the room period.

What really happens when you steal things from hotel rooms? Little things like towels or (lol) lampshades. Can they charge it to your card, or do they just write it off?

Today standard procedure is they have a price on everything in the room yeah...Sometimes they even leave a card with the amount they will charge if you take small things like glassware or towels...Usually something crazy like $10-$18 per towel.

I have been escorted off the Luxor by security back in 2004 and have never returned since.

My girlfriend at the time and myself were celebrating our 1 year anniversary in Vegas which was the first time we went together. I didn't have a lot of money but I splurged on a room at the Mandalay Bay. We decided to go to a nightclub and my brother recommended to go to this one at the Luxor since a DJ that he likes was playing there.

The problem was one of the doorman was trying to scam us to giving him $30 to cut to the front of the line. We told him we weren't interested and he threatened to not let us in at all. I told him to go fuck himself and he decided to grab my girlfriends ass. I then spit a fat loogie on his face. Before he could do anything My girlfriend and I were grabbed by security and was told to not attempt to come back.

Went to the MGM afterwards and won $300 at the craps tables.

The Luxor should be imploded and put it's miserable life to an end.

Easily the best "fuck you" gesture a man can delivr, and you didn't even have to get your hands sore.

    Props.
