Bet Islands Sports Book Ran Off With 1.5 million In Player Funds

Apparently they are still taking deposits on the site. Here's the main thread from SBR

There are about 50 others but the gist is that their backer pulled out and left the players holding the bag. The backer may have had ties to the Bonnano family and the Cantor gaming group who just went down in the Pinnacle bust. SBR potentially knew of the scam weeks before the crap hit the fan. There's some pretty pissed off people for sure.

Obv no US facing books are safe right now. Druff could probably read through this mess and put together a more informative post but just in case anyone was thinking about betting some games this weekend, definitely steer clear of BI.

Reminds me a bit of the BetCascade situation shortly after Neteller went down in 2007.

Again, they were highly rated on SBR, and then all of a sudden the bottom dropped out and they weren't paying anyone.

I lost $4700 in the Cascade mess.

I haven't read all of the stuff on SBR yet, but from what I've seen, it looks like they really shit the bed on this one.

The online sportsbetting industry has always been SUPER shady, and much riskier than poker ever was. One thing I'll say for Bodog/Bovada is that they have existed forever and have always kept themselves out of scandal, but they also aren't all that good for the serious sportsbettor.

If this site is suppose to be a watch dog site for fraud then this thread should be getting the most attention right now. SBR was 100% behind this operation and led everyone to slaughter. Druff unless this site was just to piss off micon get some answers on y sbr is ducking and dodging the people they told to play here and why they arent trying to get these players a buyout unless there palms get greased with money?? This is the biggest scam that has happened offshore since absolute poker yet it has only 1 response??
