    Utimate Fighter 16

My picks although I don'e see this as being as good a card as the one in Australia this weekend but you never know:

Roy Nelson (252) vs. Matt Mitrione (257)
Mike Ricci (171) vs. Colton Smith (170)
Pat Barry (238) vs. Shane del Rosario (244)
Melvin Guillard (156) vs. Jamie Varner (156)
Dustin Poirier (146) vs. Jonathan Brookins (146)
Mike Pyle (171) vs. James Head (171)
Marcos Vinicius (136) vs. Johnny Bedford (136)
Rustam Khabilov (155) vs. Vinc Pichel (156)
    T.J. Waldburger (170) vs. Nick Catone (171)
Reuben Duran (136) vs. Hugo Viana (135)
John Cofer (156) vs. Mike Rio (156)
Tim Elliott (126) vs. Jared Papazian (126)

Nelson in the Main Event would be my LOCK. Poirier would be a close second LOCK.

Really looking forward to Barry - del Rosario. Barry never disappoints.

    Thoughts?

Not sure how nelson could ever be a lock. Talent wise Id take Meathead but hes so fuckin stupid he might knock Roy out and let him get back up. Im also not sure how long of a camp hes had, but Nelson is tough but awful. Hes like a fat ass punching bag, and Meathead can throw some bows.

@ +110 Id take Varner even though I hate the fuck. Melvin will never be any good. The gameplan should be simple take him down get his back and choke him out like everyone else does.

Barrys +200 but ever since he left Rufus for that Lesnar WWE camp hes won like 1 fight. Plus I know nothing about his opp which makes me wonder why hes +200 so it looks like a possible trap.

I never said it was a lock I said it was my lock.

They were on the same ultimate fighter show that Nelson won & was by far the best on the show & was never really challenged while meathead never even made it to the final, not to mention just the experience difference between the 2.
Meathead is taking the fight on short notice & hasn't fought in over a year, & I'm not sure how serious he's taking this shit. I don't think he's totally committed to it & stepping into the octagon &, giving the experience factor to Nelson, I don't see him winning other than a fluke.

Mitrione has also had 3 surgeries in the last year not to mention he trains with the Blackzillians. Has that camp even won a fight since they came to prominence?

Nelson walks around somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 pounds less than he used to. That shows that he is in fact training harder. He is also a legit bjj black belt under Renzo Gracie, has a granite chin, and all of his ufc wins are by ko. That coupled with the fact that Mitrione is coming off of a long layoff due to injuries does lend itself to him being a favorite. In my mind there are very few if in fact no "locks" in mma.

Comparing them on the show is useless. MM was so raw he was just getting started in fighting while Nelson was probably at his peak. Saying someone with his type of punching power will only win by a fluke is crazy talk especially against a fat ass 36 yr old thats lost 3 of his last 5 fights. If Meathead was training with anyone other then the Blackzillians I'd pick him to win easy, but that gym is so fucked up who knows if he has even trained for the fight. Donty forget before his last fight he was undeafted and a rising star then he didnt even throw punches against Knogo the guys a head case with alot of talent so I wouldnt touch this fight.

    I like this card.

Looking forward to Roy Nelson vs. Matt Mitrione. Meathead has been away a long time due to injuries and cancellations but he asked for this fight.

Roy is a very talented fat man...a fan favorite. He should win.

Mitrione cried poverty in an interview with Ariel Helwani a while back. Matt said he was broke after living off a fight of the night bonus. He has a family, three kids so is he determined to win or has he been smoking the Ganja with the Blackzilians?

Mike Ricci vs. Colton Smith should be good. Smith is an Army Ranger and tough as nails but Rory MacDonald's best friend Mike Ricci has too much skill for Colton. Ricci by KO.

Pat Barry vs. Shane del Rosario. Should be fun to watch.

Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner. I like both these guys but Varner is the much more skilled fighter. Varner by submission.

Marcos Vinicius vs. Johnny Bedford. Does Johnny still have it after being away for so long? Vinicius (TUF Brazil) will test him.

Shit, Jamie Varner just bowed out of his fight with Melvin Guuillard!

He said he felt sick. WTF?

Yes, I have Ricci and Nelson to win. Also had a small parlay Ricci + Nelson + Bedford

I was just updating Hockey Guy's record there, I didn't have anything else down on any other fights.

Wow. Poirier, one of my locks, almost got KTFO before submitting Brookins. I have to admit I underestimated Brookins & he looked in control until he got caught.
