Berlin is a top place. If you're travelling in Europe try and get a few nights there.

Plenty to see and do and a great nightlife lots of bars. Aim for the centre during the day and head out to the old eastern bloc during the evening - take the ubahn to Warschaurstrasse and follow the crowds. You will not be disappointed.

Visiting as many Weinachtsmarkts as you can (and drinking a warm toasty spiced Glühwein in each one) is a great December activity in Berlin. It's a great way to see the city, actually.
