Hockeyguy - I went through the same process, however they said > 45 days so you can't dispute. My transaction was dec 18th but it didn't clear until Dec 28th.

I phoned in talked to security -> transferred to fraud dept (who realized this wasn't fraud as in someone using my account) -> disputes.

I can say at this point that an investigation into John Sepulveda's theft regarding 22q has begun with authorities in Rhode Island. I can't comment any more other than that. This isn't my choice, these were instructions I was given as to not impede the investigation.

I am asking anyone with any emails with Johnny relating to 22q, emails or screen shots of paypal transactions regarding 22q and any other correspondence that you feel is worthy to please email them to me at bmgerson55@aol.com

Again to be clear, unfortunately anything regarding the BAP, or other dealings outside of 22q are not helpful at this time.

The investigation at this point is SOLELY based on John Sepulevda's theft of funds regarding 22q.

I have received many pm's with tons of useful information that i have forwarded to the authorities. I appreciate everyone that has helped.

Paypal is an absolute joke. I attempted to make a transaction the other day and noticed my account was blocked. I found out from customer service the reason for this was because John Sepulveda had bounced (2) echecks to me and because of his standing with paypal, they wanted to know my relationship with him.

LOL at them freezing my account because HE BOUNCED 2 ECHECKS TO ME. Keep in mind I have always been in good standing with paypal for over a decade. Never charged anything back, or had anyone chargeback against me.

edit: it appears my account has been unfrozen but I was told there is still a "pending investigation"

You have to understand from their point of view, they could think John Sepulveda was trying to funnel stolen money to you, so they kind of have to freeze any accounts that he may have tried to send money to. Scumbags out there pull scams like that all of the time. It sucks cause your a victim of circumstance, but they don't have the benefit of knowing all the facts of this case.

I totally get that but his echecks to me both bounced because he had insufficient funds in his bank. I never received a dollar from him.

Nonetheless, they froze the balance of my paypal funds, which was a combination of money I deposited from my checking account and that other legitimate non Sep transfers I had received.

I was on the phone with them for over an hour, most of this time with security. I even told them I didn't care about my money & told the security person all about the charity scam & the scope of it. I made it a point to emphasize I really wanted them to be aware that this guy was using their site to scam other users but especially charities. I also told them they would be getting lots of calls about this guy, if they hadn't already, & wanted to let them know it wasn't BS, this guy is bad news for them.

I may have gotten action to open a dispute because I told the dispute person I was new to Paypal(true-opened in early Dec) & didn't know the ins & outs & was tricked into sending the money as a gift. On a side note I also learned how to change my currency settings to save myself currency exchange fees so if nothing else comes of it, the call was worth it.

BTW I was very calm with them & they(both security & disputes) were very easy to talk to & receptive. This was not news to them.

People need to keep trying this. Harrass the shit out of them, but remember to be respectful the whole time and come off as a sucker victim (which let's be honest, we will were... **insert azz-clown joke of us playing with balls here**). Like I stated below, if you can prove that it was a scam, and you are respectful, and you are within 60 days... PUSH IT they will come around most likely.

Drexel that is great to hear but not terribly surprising. As I posted the other day, aside from the moral vacuity of scamming a charity the fact is there is a federal statute that applies to any charity that is so registered (which allows its donors to take tax deductions) and that provides a bright and clear line for prosecutors to rely on even if, as seems likely here, they are going to proceed under Rhode Island state law rather than fed law. Put another way, by screwing a 501c3 charity, Jasep can much more easily be prosecuted under state fraud or larceny statutes since the DA doesnt have to show intent, just that money was sent to him and designated for the charity.....he has no defense if he didnt pass the money on----reason for his failure to do that is irrelevant and not an element of the case that has to be proven against him....keep it up Drexel and this guy will be charged.....also know that we are supportive and dont be a stranger around these parts....
