    Listen to music with DirtyB

Having a kid is weird. My wife didn't used to go to sleep at 8:30pm on Friday nights. We used to go out and get rowdy until 2am. This kid is fucking cute (Pic), but she sure is a pain in the ass.

As I am currently a single parent, with an 8 week old baby lying on my chest- let's listen to some of my favorite music.

If you don't like me for any reason, please just go post in another thread.

I'll start it off with something extra extra funky.

This is a live version of Superfly by Curtis Mayfield. The clothes are great. I love the whole Superfly soundtrack.

The other famous song from the album is Pusherman-

Going back just a few years, this is my favorite track off of the fantastic Jimi Hendrix: Blues album, Catfish Blues-

And my second favorite track, a blues version of Voodoo Chile-

I think of James Brown as older than Jimi, but he was actually doing a lot of classic stuff around the same time. I got to see James Brown when he was about 70. He didn't have the moves he used to, but he put his heart into it. Here he is tearing it down-

Jumping ahead to the 80s, this is Boogie Down Productions featuring KRS-ONE, My Philosopy-

I can't listen to BDP without hearing South Bronx. IMO it is one of the most quintessential Hip Hop songs-

Staying in the 80s, but going to the other coast, the entire Operation Ivy album is phenomenal. I love Take Warning.

Heading back to NYC, but Queens this time, a song I listen to all the time- Know The Ledge by Eric B and Rakim.

    More later.

Your taste in music is worse than your beliefs in politics.

If I were as weak a human being as you I would get a DNA test to be sure that child is yours.

Anyway, you have a distasteful taste in music and we all know you can't fight.

    In short Barry, you suck.

He asked nicely to keep it civil. Does every thread have to devolve into shit-flinging?

What a sad, lonely old man you are.

I'm a big Nirvana fan myself, but I think people tend to idolize Cobain a little too much. I don't think he was the renaissance man some people make him out to be.

Anyway, I recommend the biography Heavier Than Heaven. Some have criticized it for being a bit inaccurate and using some 2nd hand information, but I found it a very enjoyable read that has lots of interesting details that aren't commonly known about Cobain's life and rise to prominence.

i'm as big a kurt fanboy as anybody, but if you've read anything by people who actually knew him he was just a regular dude who was a great song writer

most of what he did was just to try to get laid like everybody else

I like Dave Grohl more than I ever liked Kurt. I really don't like some Foo Fighters songs, but I love a few of them.

Actually, my favorite Nirvana song is a David Bowie Song.

And my favorite Bowie song is half a Queen song.

And my favorite Queen song is about girls with big butts.

I have no transition for this one, but pretty much the first concert I went to was Jimmy Paige and Robert Plant at Market Square Arena. Here is video from that tour. They make everyone else look like amateurs.

And much older footage of one of my favorite Zeppelin songs.

Another of my favorite old hard rock songs is War Pigs. Ozzie is fucking amazing in this song.

I'll post more modern stuff later.

What a wise man you are.
    So it's true.

You didn't even father your own child?

    I wish you well.

Speaking of, I downloaded Give em the boots vol 1 and 2 today. Used to own so many cds back in the day, but sold them all. Luckily I sold them before pirating became big so I still got a few bucks for them all.
