Normal Comps For BlackJack and Craps?

Went to Tropicanna in AC Saturday. There were 4 of us dudes, we played BlackJack and Craps. At least playing $25 a hand at BJ and avg $40+ a roll at craps.

Estimate we played for at least 10 hours and we all used the players cards. We got beat and probably lost $4K+ between us. Check the comp dollars the next day. We each only had $3 to $13 in our account.

Does that make any sense? We weren't ballers or anything but losing $4K+ and playing at least 10 hours betting at least $25 to $40 on every play seems like they could toss us a few more bones.

Anyone have advice or know how comps work for the table games?

I talked to a pitt boss the next day, he was an A-Hole but said that you only get good comps if you play the Slut Machines.

To add insult to injury we go try to get some food/drinks with the comps and of course you only get full value if you use a Tropicana store, but they basically lease everyhting that is good. So everyone's comps were only worth half. LOL

I know long term we will lose playing Craps and BJ (if your not counting). But it was just for drinking and having a good time. Also we tried to only play the lowest house edge. I think BJ is about 1/2 % disadvantage doing basic strategy. Pass line in craps and placing the 6 and 8 is a very low disadvantage. Then the bets in the back are at your true odds, so you break even long term.

Was told by a craps dealer at the orleans that they comp based on how much you tip. I guess they get a lot of leeway when decided how much to comp you in that game.

Pretty sure this is bull shit, and obviously a dealer is going to tell you it's based on how much you tip. It's based on your average bet and how long you play.

I play mostly Caesars in AC and have had the same issue but not that bad. My last trip I played about 10 hours straight and received about $100 in comp dollars and 2300 in tier points. Now, I can tell you I started with the normal pass line and odds and placing a couple numbers ($40/$50 per roll). After about 8 hours of drinking I was doing that plus all the hardways and going crazy on the 12 and Yo's. My average bet was probably over $100 the last 4 hours I played. I tipped an extreme amount straight up and betting for the dealers. One role I bet $10 on the 12 for me and $5 for the dealer and it hit. The dealers tend to remember dropping $150. The pit was calling me by name and most of the dealers. I was shocked at 2300 points b/c I didn't earn much more than that the entire last year. I only need 1700 more for the next level.

I think I bought in for around $500 so earning that much was a good run. I left with a little profit. I really think the tipping helped me get a few extra points.

Thats what I thought, but does it make sense to get $13 in comp dollars if your betting at least $25 a hand for 10 hours?

Lets say pretty full table and we'll be conservative and say 60 hands per hour.

So I'm betting a minimum of $1,500 per hour, most like $2K+ with raising the bet, splits, and double downs.

    $1,500 x 10 hours = $15,000 wagered.

$15,000 X 1/2% house edge (player uses basic strategy, no counting) = $75 EV long term gain for the casinos.

Damn, so although we lost $4K playing, the casinos EV is only $75 per player....so I guess $13 does make sense. Now while we kept fairly close to basic strategy most players won't and $15,000 is on the low end, since many times the bet was over $25. Maybe its just the casinos are hurting so bad from the Pennsylvania casinos they have to make cuts?

Your mistake was going to the Trop. The only place in A.C. that I'll go is the Borgata. They are much better with comps from what I've heard.

Casinos all have different formulas for comps. I also think the person telling SetOfKs attached to tips was bullshitting. They would get in trouble with management for that, since casino management doesn't give a shit about tips.

Comps are calculated by the following:

    - Average bet
    - Skill at the game (if it's a skill-based game). Bad players get way more comps.
    - Time played
    - House edge of the game played correctly (ignoring card counting)

The $13 they gave you was a fucking joke, and I'd ask a casino host to clarify. It's possible they were missing a lot of your play.

4 hours of play at a $25/hand average should have generated at least $50, and perhaps more.

Also keep in mind that blackjack only has a low casino edge if you play correctly and the house rules are good.

If the dealer hits soft 17 instead of stands, that adds somewhat to the casino edge.

If they don't let you double on any 2 cards, that is bad and you shouldn't play.

If they don't let you double splitting, again, that is bad and you shouldn't play.

If they pay 6:5 on blackjack instead of 3:2, DO NOT PLAY because that is a horrible game.
