Net result is the same and if you shoot someone, they're not gonna just take it, they're comin' for you as long as they can. His mistake was not using a shotgun or some really large caliber rifle / pistol. I mean if you've ever hunted small game with a .22, you know what I mean, things just don't die easy. This is right near my hometown. Talked to my dad on the phone tonight and he told me about it. Kinda funny I heard about it from him, then log in here and read about it an hour later. Anyway, I think he did the right thing. Unfortunately hes an ole shit for brains, and the stupid things he said will probably end up convicting him. LOL at the facebook group or whatever it was talking about how great of kids these two were.

Night, multiple persons invading your home - who knows how many more coming. He shoots. Adrenaline is surging. His guns are not well kept and he has to switch, but he shoots and keeps shooting until nothing moves. He finished them off - that what animals do to each other - it is nature.

I don't see how you put an old man in prison because of this. Guy is 64 ears old, has no criminal record, doesn't seem to bother anybody, but some kids break into his house and hes going to end up spending what amounts to the rest of his life because of it? Thats a bad beat if I've ever heard of one.

To all those bleeding hearts out there for these kids, let me put it like this.
A few years ago I was faced with a dire situation. I mouthed off to exactly the wrong guy. Late in the evening I got rolled up. Not by him alone, but with 7 of his friends. For whatever reason, I got a pass and was able to walk away.
You just have to be careful in life and not put yourself in bad situations. No matter how much of a bad ass you think you are, there is someone always on the other side that simply does not give a shit about anything.
You can debate the fact whether the guy should have blown them up all day long. Bottom line is you have a couple teenagers dead and their life is gone and that it that.

i think she was just doped up out of her mind. if dude is make up a story after a kidnapping goes wrong, why make his alibi that he shot her cause she laughed at him? also seems weird for a dude to have no criminal history til hes 60 then suddenly decide to kidnap some kids. dudes obviously a little nuts, but maybe getting broken into 12 times drove him a little crazy

If he invited them over, likely their friends would know. It is interesting that the girl would have followed the guy after she hears gunshots and she comes down the stairs. Something else may have very well happened. He might have coaxed her down the stairs then shot her to make it look like more of a threat. I'm sure a lot of the shooting was justified, but he clearly goes over the line with his executor type stuff. She laughed at him .. if she did anything like this she was a pretty hard bitch. It could have been a 'fuck you' type comment. Guy got plenty of time to think his story over and let their side of the story die.
Obviously the law needs to go after anyone who does some executioner style shots after a person is mortally wounded and no reasonable threat. The law can't accept that type of behavior. 6ToedPete needs to find a state and secede with the rest of his righteous loonies.

Here's my take on it. Either you have the right to use lethal force to protect yourself or your property or you don't.
Some people seem to take issue with his statements making it sound like he enjoyed killing these two. Well, guess what. The law doesn't stipulate that you can only use deadly force if you're remorseful about it after the fact. He might be a dick for what he said, but being a dick doesn't mean that killing intruders in your home was murder.
The fact is, if an intruder is in your home and you merely wound them, you have no idea what might still happen. They could still pull out a gun and kill you. You have no idea what that person may still be capable of, and killing or harming you is still a distinct possibility as long as they are still alive. They might be pretending to be more hurt than they are, and then you turn around to pick up the phone to call 911 and they shoot you in the back.
This guy will get his day in court, and will hopefully be acquitted, or at the very least, convicted of a charge lesser than 2nd degree murder.
