Alabama is a powerhouse.

When I was a kid (roughly 6th grade), I had a female friend in our clique and we used to hang out at her house every once in a while. She had a cool hiding spot under her back porch where 10 of us could just chill.

One day, we actually walked in the front door of her house, and there was this cool trophy of a football player with an arm extended while holding a football. I didnt know what that was at the time. Turns out, her dad won the Heisman Trophy while playing ball at Notre Dame. Johnny Lattner.

Growing up in Chicago, you see TONS of Notre Dame fans around here. Lots of friends went there too.

Hell, I went to Lacrosse Camp there in H.S. and the coach actually gave me a real jersey from the team (they were getting new uniforms for next season so he had a dozen to give out). Felt like a God....walking around school with a REAL ND jersey on.

My Grandfather had his yearbook from when he went to the University of Illinois, and one of the Fraternities at U of I back then was the Klu Klux Klan.

OK, that photo was too harsh to describe Alabama football but even up to the 1971 season, Alabama refused to recruit blacks for the football team.

Plus, the atmosphere on campus is still not always friendly to black students. Maybe it's improving.
