    Globalization is a funny thing

In America, people associate "globalization" with Asian countries taking our manufacturing jobs. But the real meaning is the increasing flow of ideas and culture between nations, along with goods and services.

I just saw on Facebook that a friend of mine from high school is heading to Shanghai to help run the Chinese National Beatbox Competition. Here is the video of last year's final round.

It's too bad Buffy from the Fat Boys didn't live to see this.

first of all, i like the video

but re: globalization, please add to the bolded above: "and a redistribution of wealth resulting in more to the already well off"

sorry to add that gloomy note to what was intended to be a light-hearted thread...but imho globalization's affect on wealth distribution is similar to that of the industrial revolution that began 3 centuries ago...a very few got extremely rich, but far more were worse off for a long time

My friend is a second generation Chinese-American who has made videos documenting the rise of Hip Hop culture in mainland China and elsewhere around the world.

Do some rich people make even more money off of globalization? Sure. But in aggregate, globalization also raises the standard of living for billions of poor people. Even just in America, our overall standard of living and quality of life has never been higher.
