Imagine working yourself to such a high position in a company like Apple, and then throwing it away because you're too arrogant to admit that your company made a mistake.

Citing "people familiar with the matter," The Wall Street Journal reports that Forstall, a 15-year veteran at Apple, wanted the company to address the poor reception for Maps without apologizing. However, CEO Tim Cook disagreed and sent an e-mail to customers on Sept. 28 stating that Maps "fell short."

IOS6 Maps do suck. We tried to use them for directions when driving from Atlantic City to Times Square, NYC, and it tried to send us to some other part of New York state.

You're right Barry. You have never blamed Bush or a Republican for any of Obama's failures. You have been completely fair and unbiased in your evaluations of the current President, and everyone here is extremely grateful for your nonpartisan thoughts. He is vocal, brash, and pretty much everything that Jobs was and desired in his employees. Also, a terrible, terrible co-worker.

The real problems came from him having fundamental disagreements about the phone and iOS design and software implementations.

It really is a sign that Apple is beginning a downward trend back into mediocrity driven more by deadlines and cost than sheer perfection. Jobs didn't give a crap about cost or deadlines if it meant having the perfect product.

This is all true, but it still doesn't explain why he wouldn't apologize to the public for the IOS6 Map fail.

It's not like everything Jobs did was perfect. Apple languished for many years before finally improving Mac sales, and then eventually breaking out to huge success thanks to the iPhone.

Steve Jobs once felt that the Apple Lisa and NeXT computers would be huge. Look how those turned out.
