Good baseball players you have forgotten about over time

    Dave Stewart, Oakland As

Guy was a mid level pitcher and went on a huge heater in the late 80s / early 90s, winning like 90 games in 4 years. Then he faded almost and quick as he arrived.

He did have an Eddie Murphy type moment I believe, but a solid guy otherwise from what I have read.

Giants pitching Coach Dave "rags" Raghetti , believe he threw a no hitter in the early 80s and had 46 saves in 1986 for the Yanks

Speaking of Stewart I believe Bob Welch was on his staff and won like 27 games in 88 or 89 , closest to 30 in a while

Mickey Tettleton was a guy I rode hard in the late 80's and early 90's for Scoresheet baseball. A switch hitting catcher who hit for power and had a great OBP before it was fashionable. He did K a lot though.

Wendall fucking Kim. He was 3rd base coach for the Red Sox in the 90s. That gook sprinted from dugout to 3rd better than any oriental on record.

The Reverend Aloysius Stanislaus Travers, 1912 (Tigers)
In May of 1912, a man named Claude Lueker, who had no hands, heckled Ty Cobb by calling the Georgia Peach—himself a renowned bigot—"half a n-word." Cobb entered the stands and slugged Lueker repeatedly, ignoring the pleas of fans for him to stop beating up a man with no hands. When Cobb was suspended indefinitely for the assault, his Tigers teammates went on strike until Cobb was reinstated. To avoid paying hefty fines and forfeiting the next game, the Tigers had to find replacement players. Aloysius Travers was one of those replacements: a violist and college student, the not-yet priest was assistant manager of the St. Joseph's College baseball team. In his one major league appearance, Travers pitched a complete game, allowing 26 hits and 24 runs (only 14 earned).

Tim Raines who was one of the best leadoff men of all time, but i feel his career was kind of overshadowed because Rickey Henderson was such and amazing leadoff hitter in the same era.
In his prime he could steal 70 bases and get had a 390 to 410 On base.
7 All star games and even got a ring with 96 Yankees.
He feels like a hall of famer but I havent really studied the numbers, and I am pretty sure he has never been close in the voting.

Kent Hrbek was quietly a gold glove level defensive 1st baseman with decent power and on base percentage. I thought it was a joke the guy never won a gold glove, but I am biased by having watched him play a ton.

    Peace,

What a great name. No vowel in between the H and r, deseves huge respect.

Tim Raines. Solid player. Reminds me of the thin black man that went on a huge heater in the 80s for the Cardinals. I just cant remember his name.

I blew a lot of money trying to acquire the Tim Raines, Ricky Henderson and Fernando Valenzuela rookie cards.

Also Ron Gant. He could turn on an inside pitch faster than anyone I've ever seen.

Dale Murphy, who played mostly for the Braves.

Won two MVP awards back to back, and hit 398 HR in a career where he retired shortly after turning 37.

He has 9 kids, too (all from his wife).

Great Player. Coincidently a devote Mormon. I have been looking for one of the old school powder blue Dale Murphy jerseys since the Josh Arieh segment of the 22Q podcast when he mentioned Dale.

Pedro Guerrero hit .300 over a 15 year career and still slugged 215 HR, including 15 in the month of June, 1985.

He singled-handedly carried the Dodger offense that year, where they ended up losing that heartbreaker to the Cardinals (Jack Clark's HR) in the NLCS.

Dodgers made a terrible trade in 1988, sending him to the Cards for John Tudor, who immediately said he didn't want to be there.

Didn't Vince Coleman(far right) get run over by a tarp just before the 1985 World Series against the Royals?

If he was in the lineup they win for sure.

Nobody is/was a bigger fan of the Montreal Expos & therefore Tim Raines than me & I will unequivocally say he was NOT a HOF'er. Great player that got caught up in the drug shit of the early 80's but still had a nice career.
