Cliffs
- Won about $2800 playing 15-30 ring and couldn't miss
- Lost about $2300 vs semi maniac @ 15-30 HU at same time
- Lost $3500 late in 30-60 3 handed. The fish has all the money vs other HU pro right now I was ahead $1k at me peak in that game and then dropped 4k straight and decided to pack it in
Laying off 30-60 3 handed till roll increases but will still play HU vs guys I have large edge.
Bounceback Time
Well hasn't been the greatest start to this current stake but I am not worried about it. Last night was very swingy as most nights have been recently due to the games I have been playing. 15-30 on Merge has been running around the clock and at some time 3 tables so in a sense it is the equivalent of playing close to 50-100 with the variance smoothed out a bit due to more hands being played.
Last night I joined a 15-30 game and just crushed it hard and the deck hit me pretty bad. I went up as high as 2500 on this one table and then at that point a table popped on rev and I got what I thought was a fish. Guy was relentless with his 3 bets and cr and I don't mind playing a player like this but I went STONE COLD card dead and before you knew it I was in for a little over 2,000 and then I decided to quit and just focus on the 15-30 6 max. That game broke and I was up 2200 or so and then all of a sudden I noticed a 30-60 game between a HU pro and a guy that was very fishy. I joined and the pro quit and then some NL player joined. I was doing well. I was ahead about 1000 and then I get dealt qq in a 3 handed capped pop on the flop and preflop. flop was j53 or something. turn was the 5 and the action slowed down a bit and the fish showed up with 59 off and he scooped a monster pot. From there it was HU and 3 handed off and on. I went down 3k then back up 4k then finally toward the end of the night I couldn't win a pot and wound up stuck $3500 or somewhere near there.
I felt good about my play and never lost my composure even when I was getting crushed which is good. That is something I actually have taken control of BIGTIME over the past 6 months. When I lose hard consistently in spots my mental state doesn't change and I don't tilt. I have never really been a tilter in terms of smashing buttons to let off steam but for a while I did get infuriated in some spots and I would get just very angry but now I am very balanced when it comes to that sort of thing. I do still get excited and feel really good when I win but I have learned to deal with losing a lot better. I think some of it has to do with a book I read which is Tommy Angelo's The Elements of Poker. Anyone out there with tilt problems I would suggest you read it.
Anyhow the roll has dipped a little over 5k but I am not worried at all. I am just going to grind grind grind and things will work out. I am going to cut out the spots which c an potentially danger the bankroll the most IMO and will stick with some strict stop losses at certain limits.
Other than that things have been going good for me. I am pleased with how my podcast is going and I may be adding a second or even a third show at some point. My sleep has been terrific lately and I feel great. I am back on a strict diet but I need to crank up my exercise regimen again. As long as I stick with positive things in my life all will always work out.
Back to the grind now, will update roll after play
