The Thing was originally a vehicle Volkswagen built for the German military during World War II.

    It was called a Kubelwagen. Here's a 1944 model.

Oddly enough, in the late 80s my first car was a 1965 MG convertible. Mine was baby blue though (and not nearly as nice as the one in the photo). My father sold it soon after I turned 16 after my mother read a story about them taking flight at higher speeds, and because it didnt have a roll bar.

Like Pete mentioned, they are a lot of fun to drive, much in a way that a go-cart is fun to drive.......the MG has a way of making you feel as though you are going faster than you actually are, a mix of the lo-to-the-ground stance and the palpable vibrations and sounds coming from the power train and exhaust.... added to tearing through the stick-shift gears and the wind in your hair, it made for a great experience.

I purchased the MG when I was 14 for $500 (from a couple of nudists of all things) and saved it from over a decade of dormancy and dust in a garage. I then spent two years restoring what I could afford (a new top, some new floorboards, and minor bodywork). I hated mom a little bit for making me get rid of it, but I am a parent now, so am at peace with it.

But I loved that car, and it will always hold a special place in my memory (better than the Honda I got after that, that is for sure).

I liked my old XJS, pain in the ass though to keep up. I finally gave up on her.

My dad had the 69 XKE roadster convertible, very expensive to maintenance the old Jags.

Obviously it needs a lot of work, but it will be fun to drive once restored.
    Should look something like this.

I have never brought a total rust bucket back to life. But i have fixed up some old bugs that needed a lot of attention.

ive owned a 1970 Camaro, 76 Pontiac formula, 81 turbo trans am, 86 g.t.a, 81 covette, 85 corvette.....the only thing im missing is the delorean. fuck this n.w.o bush/Obama/Clinton shit...

    I drive a Pontiac g6 v6 right now....

il be honest, the other day I was looking at the new Honda civic si with all the add ons.. real cool car if u live in the city... I also looked at the new nisson juke sport with the performance mode.. il probably end up with a kia Sorrento(non union American made)....

its fucked up that g.m shut down the Pontiac division.. Pontiac always had sports cars with a luxery tinge to it..
