    Anyone own a small SUV?

My wife has a 2007 Mini Cooper and has really liked it. The problem now is that when a baby seat is put into the back, it forces the front passenger seat to be 6" from the dashboard. Since she would like to be able to drive around a passenger other than Lt. Dan, we're going to trade it in for a small SUV.

I'm looking at the Equinox, CR-V, CX-5, Escape, and Tuscon. Does anyone own one of those? What do you think of it?

My gf is buying a cx5 after test driving all the cars you mentioned. For the money I'd go with the Mazda as well. I'm not a fan of any of them but the cx deemed the best in the category.

I think the Equinox is what you will need. Lots of leg room in the back seats.

Have an older model honda CRv and a ford fusion

the honda is great. never had any issues with it and it averaged around the mid 20's for gas milage. lots of space too. Im 6'4 and I had more room in the drivers seat than i did when i tried out other full sized suv's

My wife drives a 2011 Tuscan. It's awesome. I almost prefer driving her car to mine sometimes. The all glass roof is pretty cool as well and it's great on gas. The 10 year warranty was what finally made me choose that car over the other small suv's.

Honda CR-V wins hands down presuming you are cool with a light SUV. I've driven the thing a few times (owned by step-mother) and it's cute, handles well and has great gas mileage, TONS of interior room.

And it's light as a piece of paper, which may or may not work for you here. It does not give the feeling of confidence one might expect upon looking at the thing, that's for sure, but it's a blast to drive.

FWIW, I know two people who work for Honda dealerships, and they both drive CRV's.

Thank you for the advice. I have driven two Hondas and an Acura over the past 12 years and have had zero major mechanical problems with them.

Thank you to everyone for the recommendations. It doesn't exactly help me pick one, but it's great to know that there are some really good vehicles in this class. I guess there's a reason that it's the fastest growing class.

Barry, it may be a bigger vehicle than you are interested in but we're had a Honda Pilot for 6 years and it is terrific. The third row seats really bring it all together.

It may be worth it to give it a test drive as you are out looking at other vehicles.

test drove a forrester...felt like i was in a vice.

test drove subaru wagon..it was better..but it was more expensive, sluggish and drove like a tank

test drove a honda crv..felt better than the forrester but wanted to keep looking..

test drove the honda element. bought it. the interior space is unlike anything in it's class..bigger than the toyota fj cruiser.....i like the no frills nature about it as well...if you're a big guy and like interior space which is good on gas than this is the car for you.
